How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewCentrally located premises, offering two spots for parking, one right outside the hotel and another one in a nearby property. Walking distance from restaurants and tour operators. The room was spacious, with comfortable bed and a balcony with view to the pool. The receptionist was kind enough to store our luggage for a couple of hours after check out and also suggested places to have dinner upon our arrival.
We didn't really mind, but I have to mention the lack of soundproof walls (we clearly listened to the next door neighbour snoring) and that the bathroom overflowed after two people taking a bath. Especially the second issue must be something that can be easily fixed.

A very special thank you goes to the manager, Henry, who went above and beyond for us when we found ourselves in a difficult situation after being robbed. He helped us with everything we needed, showing genuine care and concern. His professionalism and kindness truly made all the difference and turned a stressful experience into something manageable. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely designed, and the pool area was perfect for relaxing. Everything was well maintained and added to the overall great experience. The shower temperature was really annoying, either boiling hot or freezing cold. Shared kitchen was quite dirty, a tea or coffee station would've been nice.

The parking is very limited, so if you don’t get there early, you have to park in an unattended and unlit dirt lot a few meters away. The room size is adequate however there’s nothing there show a guest how welcome you are!!! No complimentary water, NO TV, no coffee maker, no microwave, no mini fridge ( how would the accommodate someone diabetic)? The air conditioner worked very well. AND there was a small safe in the bottom of the closet. The rooms are situated around a courtyard style pool which is lovely, however there were people in the pool for hours , clearly drinking “something” and never exiting the pool so it leaves one leery to get into the pool. There was plenty of lounging chairs, umbrellas and small tables. The music playing in the restaurant from 2 pm until approximately 11 pm was pounding techno, and annoying. If you’re looking for tranquility it’s not there. There’s no room service until 7 am. Our car was blocked in (in an 6 car parking lot) and we needed to leave by 6:30 am, which was very inconvenient. In an emergency the situation would have been disaster. The walk to the beach is about 400 meters, be prepared for rough terrain. Lovely view of the ocean and lots of activity there.

Regarding the room features: Yuli Hotel offers multiple room types at different levels—some include a TV, mini-fridge, and coffee maker, while others are designed for guests seeking a more minimalist, nature-focused stay. For added flexibility, we provide a free shared outdoor kitchen equipped with coffee makers and other essentials, including a refrigerator for guests with special needs (like diabetics)—and our staff is always happy to help accommodate such requests when informed. As for parking, we understand your concern. The hotel recently expanded its capacity by over 700 square meters, adding enough space for 50–60 additional vehicles just a few meters from the property. This new area is now open and secured at night, offering peace of mind for all guests. Regarding pool use, our guests often spend time enjoying the water while relaxing with a drink—it’s part of the vacation atmosphere. However, we always expect respectful behavior and cleanliness, and our staff monitors the area regularly. In terms of music and noise, we understand that preferences vary. We are already working with the restaurant to ensure the volume remains at a level that respects guests looking for tranquility, especially during the evenings. Lastly, our team is available before 7:00 a.m. and always ready to assist. If your car was blocked in, we truly apologize—it’s not a common occurrence and we’re actively improving our parking management to prevent situations like this in the future. We’re proud of the warm hospitality and guest experience we offer at Yuli Hotel, and while we regret that your stay didn’t fully reflect that, we appreciate your input—it helps us grow. The room was very small. I had no hot water and a lot of noise in the room, so I asked to change it, which they did for the next day, so it was resolved. The pillows were very thick and not very comfortable. My room was on the second floor with no elevator, so taking the suitcase up and down was quiet heavy.

Verified reviewThe pool. The location. The staff. I was warmly greeted by Grettel, who took time to introduce me to the property and its facilities. She also gave me good advice about where to visit and where I might best get an opportunity to see bird and wild life. Kevin was the only other staff member that I interacted with but he too was friendly and gave practical advice about my onward travel and places in Costa Rica. I lucked out and a six bed dorm all to myself so enjoyed privacy at a good price point. The dorm room is modern, large, air conditioned and comfortable.
Everything thing was ok. The adjoining restaurant does play music till 10pm but it didn’t affect my sleep and they played a pretty good play list.

Verified reviewI stayed there for 5 days in April and had the best time. Gretel and Kevin took great care of me, always super helpful and full of tips on what to do, explore, the best places to eat. The room was so spacious, with new and very comfortable beds, overall everything was very clean, well equipped and tidy shared kitchen, huge swimming pool (I was not bothered by the music from the restaurant next door which stopped at 10pm) Highly recommend this gem!

Verified reviewAmazing large, spacious and modern room. The mattress is spectacular. Perfect location with a 3 minute walking distance from the parks main entrance. The restaurant is very good and has a great ambiance.
Not enough parking space. Cars are boxed in during the night because of other guests cars. If you have to leave early in the morning you’re stuck. Also our room had awful sound proofing. We could hear every single word our neighbors spoke and I’m pretty sure they heard us having sex, so that means walls are extremely thing and non sound insulated.

Pool area could use a little tlc dirty umbrellas and chairs Restaurant is SO expensive and not worth it Staff weren’t very helpful- asked about transportation to San Jose and got told to use bookaway. Asked if they could book us a table at the restaurant and when we turned up they didn’t have our reservation so this clearly wasn’t communicated. Although, the guy on reception when we checked out was nice (didn’t catch his name)

Verified reviewThe pool and the outside environment overall was very pleasant and relaxing. Very close to Marino Ballena National Park.
The breakfast was not included and was expensive. The shower doors were broken as well as the bathroom window and one of the lights. The towels need to be renewed. The restaurant inside is noisy and the music volume was loud, especially at night, which ruined the overall experience. Parking spots are limited and you need to leave the car key at the reception.
