How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location, close to ferry and city center. Currently (Aug '25) some construction around, but it wasn't noisy at all. Friendly bunch of cats on the ground level. Okay breakfast.
Wi-Fi is not the best, but it's similarly choppy everywhere in Cabo Verde.

Verified reviewLocation between ferry and town centre, which was the main reason for booking. The air conditioning was working well and quietly. Nice rooftop terrace with a good view. Breakfast was ok, though there was only powdered milk for both the cereal and the coffee.
The mattresses were beyond usable: horribly dirty with tons of brown stains. In addition, you could feel every single spring of the mattress. No safe in the room and old room keys, where every single key could probably unlock every room in the hotel. Cats roaming downstairs and begging at the table during breakfast.

Verified reviewBreakfast as buffet. Nice balcony.
You have to leave the key at the hotel when going out but you have to ring a bell when coming back and they sometimes do not hear it.

Verified reviewThe girl named Ticianne working in the reception was super friendly and willing to help with any questions I had. The guesthouse felt a bit like a homestay and the breakfast was very nice too. The room was huge, and everything was very clean. I could leave my luggage with them whilst going on a day tour the last day and leaving for the airport that evening. Everything was very well organized. Also, the location is great at walking distance to the ferry to go to or arrive from Santo Antao.

Verified reviewThe location is amazing, 5min from the ferry, you're really in the heart of the action. Staff is amazing, the best we've seen in CV! They helped us arrange a car, taxi, day use, etc plus they speak so many languages!
Breakfast could have a bit more variety but it was decent

Verified reviewVery friendly staff, local breakfast with plenty of choice. The rooms and facilities are clean, quiet with barely any sound from the road, and located close to the harbour.

Verified reviewGood location, close to the ferry, walking distance to the beach and to the city center. Breakfast is fair, but not outstanding. Our room was spacious, with good bad. There is a balcony with a table and chairs. We missed a little more furniture in the room, let's say 2 chairs. Wifi worked well, with no problems. Reception is 24/7. Didn't get keys for the gate, had to ring every time and the receptionist let us in. Strange, but gives a little more feeling of security. Luggage can be left there before check-in and after check-out.
There are some construction works in the neighborhood, but they work in normal hours.

Unclear whether it was safe. People walk in and out. Need to pay full bill at the check in. They charge extra for credit card.

Verified reviewThe room was very simple but exceeded expectations: it was better than the photos. It had a private toilet which was located outside the room, which made it feel more spacious. The accommodation was very close to the centre and to the port for the ferry (about 5 min walking), and to the beach The wifi was good. Breakfast was good: milk, cereals, bread, different jams, cheese, ham, fruit, coffee and tea.

Verified reviewGreat location for the ferry, friendly staff, we got a room upgrade for same price. Nice simple breakfast was made available at an early time so we could catch the ferry.
Quite room, however the pillows were like sleeping on a Beer matt.

Verified reviewThe best bed and mattress in the whole country !! No springs, nice and hard ! Good location to reach the ferry on foot or to walk into the city center. Very welcoming, friendly staff. Good AC. I stayed in room 402, Annette. It was comfortable and felt very private. Staff rents out scooters. Very flexible with breakfast in case of an early departure. Nice, big bathroom.
As usual in Cape Verde the light in the bedroom is very weak. The bathroom has excellent light. It would be much more comfortable if the bedroom would have the same kind of light.

Verified reviewGood location for the ferry to Santo Antão. The room that I had reserved was in the basement and felt like being in a cellar. I changed for a more expensive room ( Aurora, 202) on the second floor. This room had a good AC, a small balcony and the best, hard mattress ( no springs ! ) that I found in Cape Verde ! The breakfast included different types of fruit. It's possible to rent a scooter at the accommodation.
The usual weak light in the bedroom is just not enough. It's hard to see and read ( almost everywhere in Cape Verde the same ) while the bathroom has a proper strong light.

Verified reviewBreakfast was great. Had to get up early for an inter-island ferry ride, and the host graciously had the breakfast laid out and available. Very friendly staff all around.
The door-locking mechanism was a bit clunky - could consider upgrading to keyless entry. Had to lock the door on the way out of the room, otherwise, the door remained unlocked.
