The lady, she is really something, loved that she folds my laundry, she is the soul of this place, that's why she is all over the place with her pictures with clients, I didn’t understand that when I checked in, but now I know.

Breakfast was not included, but I knew this before. I was only staying for two days but if you stay there longer it’s nice that you have a kitchen that you can use if you want to prepare meals.

The room was great, nice decorated beautiful. I fully enjoyed and felt welcome The Hk lady was adorable, she was so nice and helpful with doing coffee. I was good connected with the owner, and the service was very good. They have a good stacked kitchen with everything you need. Location good in the center.

The location is very conveniently situated in a street where there are several nightlife venues, close to the harbour. The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed. There is a swimming pool on the rooftop which allows you to cool off when you arrive.

Everything was perfect from location, to friendliness of staff and the room was way bigger than expected. Great to have a little pool on the roof to refresh after a day of walking or visiting the city. We can more than recommend this place for a few days.

Everything was exceptional. At night or early morning there is sometimes some street noise, but nothing too disturbing.

As Hortênsias was absolutely gorgeous. The place was exquisitely decorated and had lovely spaces outdoors for enjoying a morning tea or an evening swim. The staff were exceptional, especially Leena. I was asked if I needed any laundry washed and had this service provided free of charge. There is also a great little kitchen area for meal preparation if you are staying in a room that is not the deluxe apartment. Close proximity to everything you need in the downtown region: local market, restaurants, bakery, coffee. Could not recommend more. I will absolutely return.

It is next to a quite busy street, my room had windows with street view, although I barely heard the traffic with windows closed.

As Hortensias is conveniently located. I felt really welcome. The room was nice and the roof terrace is good place to rest. The building is beautifully renovated.

The host Eva was pleasant and readily available when needed. This old house was nicely renovated and rents out various rooms / apartments. The house is situated at one of the main roads through Mindelo, so if you have a room towards the road, it can be noisy. Everything is in walking distance.

The hospitality and kindness of Melanie & Eva was fantastic. Muito obrigada! We arrived earlier than expected and were able to enjoy the terrace before our room was ready. Such a nice place with a small pool, ánd in the heart of the city. With a very nice bakery just across the street & the beautiful city beach Laghina just about 15 min away, the location was perfect. After our stay we went to the next island, and one week later we were able to bring our lugage to As Hortensias again when travelling from Santo Antao to Sal via Sao Vicente. Excellent service! Both Melanie & Eva were so very kind, that really makes a difference when travelling! When leaving, we even received a little gift; a local ponche made by Eva's family. We had a lovely stay, and if we come back to Mindelo, As Hortensias would defintely be our pick!

No negative things ! Just some feedback that would've made it a bit easier (with a baby), but that's just for me, it's a luxury problem. A table/ more space by the sink for toothbrush etc. More closet space - I like to take everything out of the baggage en put it away to have a more personalized feel.

Really great location ! We were traveling with our 1 year old, he found the pool amazing. Room was pretty soundproof, barely any noise from the street and if people were on the terrace we didn't hear them. Melanie en Lena were amazing to us. My husband is from the island so they had lots to talk about, but they were also amazingly sweet to me and our son. Always engaging and asking how we were. The stairs were a bit of a hassle but it build stamina ! We made arrangements as to how often we wanted our room / bedding cleaned. Everything was perfect ! They even did a load of laundry for us and got a stain out of my husbands shirt. I miss it already ! I would definitely go back, even if it's just to say hi ! <3

It is close to a busy street.

Everything was exceptional. Extremely kind hosts, clean room, clean bathroom. The airline lost my bag and they let me have an extremely late checkout. Air conditioning as well was great

The property is clean, comfortable and well located - more importantly, the hosts are utterly charming and couldn't do enough for me. They brought me coffee in the morning and refused to let me wash up after myself when I made breakfast. They arranged my taxi to the airport and we had many wonderful discussions during my stay. They even gifted me a bottle of home-made punch when I was leaving. They could not have been more helpful or more lovely.

We arrived late at night, because our boat delayed. Melanie waited for us and showed us all the things we needed to know. We initially booked another room, but they changed it because there was a lot of noise on the streets. The cleaning lady was full of love and joy and we could not be happy when she greeted us, she didn’t understand any English but tried to make a conversation with us. We enjoyed our time and place very much!

I liked everything: the staffing is great, friendly and helpful, the.place is super clean, the bed is confortable, the terrace is really nice, the location is perfect, next to restaurants and bars, and museums, the harbor at walking distance and the beach praia da laginha is also at walking distance and if you prefer you can catch the bus
