I appreciate the hotel's convenient location and the included breakfast. The staff's genuine kindness and dedication to personalized service truly made my stay memorable. They went out of their way to prepare meals to my liking (I'm vegan) demonstrating a level of care that is rare. The hotel is simply charming and very clean. I am a frequent visitor here.

Everything was really nice: comfortable beds, good breakfast, friendly, helpful and English speaking staff. Location is good, you can easily reach beach and city center by walk, and also to find restaurants and grocery stores nearby. We didn't cook, but there is a possibility, the host kindly suggested us to use the kitchen if we need to. And the best part - very clean, hotel level private bathroom WITH HOT WATER in the shower! This is really important for me while traveling and I was surprised that Mindelo is relatively modern city (it's not some rural village), but you will not necessarily have hot water in your accomodation. So if that's important to you, you definitely need to check before hand; and here you definitely can have a nice, hot shower!

There is no sound isolation at all. We were staying in the room next to the kitchen/dinning hall, so every morning we were woken up by people gathering to have breakfast or staff preparing it at about 7:30-8:00 (and we enjoy to sleep in a bit more). It felt like they are having breakfast in our room, we could hear not only the conversations loud and clear, but such minor noises as, for example, water/liquid pouring :D However, for this price range it was just a minor inconvenience next to all the advantages they offer, and if you ended up reading this review, probably you're also browsing budget options and are used to noisy hostels/dorms, or maybe you use earplugs. We really didn't care much and we still find this place the best in Mindelo for budget travelers, we are planning to stay here again. It's just something important to know if you're a light sleeper.

Simple but all the important things were there. Walkable from the centre and the ferry to Santo Antao. We left early in the morning to get the first ferry, but we got a simple take away breakfast so we could eat on the boat.

Staff is incredible friendly. Everything was super clean.

A bit noisy during the night but I think it was because of the neighbours on the nights we stayed over.

This is a basic hotel but it hasd a bedroom, bahroom and kitchen/living room. It is clean but basic. It is a little out of the centre of Midelo about 15 minute walk. The breakfast was good. I wqould say it is value for money. The staff are helpful and seem to be available all the time

Nothing really. If you want a fancier or more central hotel you would have to pay more

The staff were very attentive and helpful, giving directions and references of places to eat, listen to music, and organized a tour with an excellent taxi driver. I also had a great reference from them to go see the turtles. The name Basic is excellent because we have the basics and much more, clean, airy room, good and varied breakfast every day. I thank the staff for helping me improve my stay in Sao Vicente, I will soon be back for more days.
