Check in was very easy, we had to leave before breakfast was served to get the ferry and they prepared a meal for us to take with us which was very appreciated. Restaurant was very good and we enjoyed the live music.

Location is very convenient. I guess it could be noisy sometimes with the restaurant downstairs but it wasn’t an issue for us. Loved our room and restaurant downstairs, staff are lovely.

Great for a first night in Mindelo, close to the airport and central for town. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was excellent and served very efficiently. The music was good in the evening. The room was a bit small as the bed was large and there wasn’t much room to manoeuvre without stubbing toes or shins. The bathroom had seen better days.

It was in a very good location, both to walk to and from the ferry, and also to explore the city. The building is historic and nice. The cafe and breakfast were excellent. Music in the evening at the cafe was wonderful. The rooms themselves could use a little updating. They were comfortable enough, but a little bare. We enjoyed the rooftop terrace.

It isn't that these things were an issue for me/us, but guests should be aware of two things:: 1) there are very steep staircases in the Guesthouse. One to the first floor where the reception and 4 or the 8 rooms are, and another staircase to the top 4 rooms and the sun deck. If stairs are an issue for you, you should be aware. 2) Noise. Personally, I like the music and street sounds and slept with the windows open. However, if you need quiet, even closing the windows and blinds will not shut out the noise from being in the most active part of town. The guesthouse provides earplugs.

This is without doubt the best location in Mindelo. It is the center of the action and close to everything you might to do. The Cafe is one of the best, and most popular, in town and the servers and workers are friendly and helpful. The food from breakfast through lunch and dinner is very good.

Bright airy room above the bar/ restaurant. Music playing in the bar but only until 10pm. Breakfast was good. We booked a second night as the location and atmosphere was perfect. Walking distance to the ferry port and other restaurants.

The hotel is just in front of a place with a lot of animation. There was a show on this day until 2 am and the noise was really loud, not possible to sleep well even of the one that have a heavy sleep like us. Just after the show there was still much noise because of the people that clean the place and take the crash bottles on the floor. The price was also too much for a 3 stars hotel.

The Hostel is well positioned in the city center just in front of the main road maybe too close. The woman of the reception was nice and book us a taxi for the airport.

I had a great stay at Casa Café Mindelo and would totally book it again for a next visit to the island. The location is amazing, in walking distance to the markets, museums and the ferry. There’s a supermarket just across the street. As a female solo traveller I felt absolutely safe here. The staff was super friendly and helpful and I enjoyed the breakfast and also dinner in the restaurant (vegetarian options are available!) Yes, it’s not the quietest location, but I stayed here on a Monday night and the music and sounds from the street didn’t bother me at all.

We should have realized that the location would be a bit noisy, especially with the live music in the restaurant. So not the best choice when you have an early flight or when you want to take the morning ferry. In this case you will also miss the lovely breakfast on the terrace, which we enjoyed on our return visit.

We very much liked the good espresso and the pastéis de nata on the terrace in front of the hotel upon arrival. The room itself was spacious and nicely decorated. We also had a tasty dinner in the restaurant. People were friendly and we could leave part of our luggage while staying on Santo Antão. The ferry is within walking distance from the hotel. A take-away breakfast was provided when we had to leave early for the ferry.

As noted before, due to opening onto the main street, the rooms are noisy. This didn't bother me, but it was loud enough that I could imagine it being a problem for some people.

Lively restaurant with the hotel above accessed by a separate entrance. The location is great, right in the centre, and within a few minutes flat walk from the ferry terminal. A taxi to the airport cost the equivalent of 12 euros. The rooms are a good size, clean and well decorated, and there are some nice communal areas.

Great location on a square on the waterfront. Cafe offered local live music after 8PM, which was fantastic. Rooms are basic, but good value for the cost, including a sufficient breakfast. <10 minute walk to ferry. ~5 minute walk to other nice restaurants in Mindelo.

Being in the centre means it’s noisy! We had a room at the front overlooking the square. At night the bar below has music till around 10 and the square has kids practicing their line dancing with competing loud music. Fun to watch but not to try and get to sleep to! Ear plugs were provided! Didn’t bother us too much, all calmed down after midnight, but may annoy others? Seems to be more begging now but may be just the central location?

Location is right in the centre; lots of shops, bars, restaurants nearby. Staff were friendly even if not great at english - better than my creole/Portuguese though! Nice breakfast, lots of options - slightly random what was available but all good. Shower decent although overly complicated! Car hire place practically next door - one day hire for €34. Taxi to/from airport €12. Nice beach at Laginha 20min walk. Mindelo is a real town, not a tourist town, and interesting to look round.
