How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The owner of this place is really nice and helps you out a lot. She provided me with all the information I needed, whenever I asked (one of my many) questions. It will help if you speak a bit of Portuguese when you are visiting, but that applies to the whole of Cabo Verde. I would recommend this place if you want to have a nice bed in a comfortable place.

You can notice that the place is older and the walls are quite thin so you can hear the noise if someone arrives later, so in case you’re light sleeper you may not be very comfortable.
The place is very well located in the centre of São Filipe. Domingas is a very kind host who will help you at any time, prepare you an early breakfast when you need to leave for the airport, arranges you a transfer. She will be like your mother for the time you stay. The room was spacious and it was definitely a perfect pick for a budget stay.

The guesthouse is simple but good: beds are comfortable, room is large and breakfast well prepared. The highlight is the owner, Dominga, who helped us in several ways during our trip. Definitely recommend it if you are looking for something simple

For the price, there is not much you can complain about !
It was a great expérience staying in the pension. Dimingas and her family are very friendly and welcoming and you get a family feel (which was a nice change after staying in an hotel the week before). Zuka is a great guide if you want to visit the island and climb on the volcan, and he speaks perfect French, English and Spanish. The family was very flexible about the check out time, and also arranged a taxi everytime I needed one. The location is very close to the city center and great restaurants, as well as shops.

Dominga is a warm and helpful hostess. Even though we could only communicate via gestures / deepl, the communication went well. The room was large and the shared bathroom always clean. Breakfast was delicious and you get fresh fruit and bread. She is happy to help organize day tours at a reasonable price. The Wifi connection is fast :)

We had to change the room, which is ok, but in a new room the door could not be locked. There are external doors, which can be locked, however the lock of our room was broken.
The host was very friendly, always ready to help.

Domingas is an amazing host that helped with many things. The room is really comfortable. Breakfast is good. Wifi is fast. Close to restaurants, bars and walking distance to tourist sites.

Very small room with no common area. The property is filled with signs telling guests what NOT to do. It did not feel very hospitable.

I thought we should have had hot water as we have had throughout CV. Also, we were told we couldn't use the stove due to cost of gas. Also, the kitchen was locked, seemingly to keep us out. No table and only one chair in the room. Only one side small table on one side of the bed. These things are easily corrected if the owner cared about customer comfort. I had to 'borrow' a portable table and chair from the hallway (also used in the kitchen). I didn't think the host was very friendly. Everything seemed very transactional based: Here's your room, give me money.

There was no hot water, no internet and very noisy (however we were there over New Year)
Handy location with nice view into town and beyond to Brava. Very secure and host was helpful in organising trip to the volcano. Nice breakfast which was even available at 5am pre volcano climb!

Domingas is an AMAZING host. We really loved to stay in her apartments. The room was big ,super clean and in perfect location. The breakfast was great. Wifi was good.

Domingas is a welcoming and caring host, who made me feel at home. She was kind to make suggestions regarding places to eat, helped with transportation and other practical stuff. The breakfast was really good, served in a homy atmosphere in her kitchen. Would be happy to come back.
