It's a 30 minute walk to the nearest town, but there is a store on-site, and taxis are very cheap and readily available.

It was a little too far to walk into town, and there was no restaurant locally for an evening meal. We found it rather noisy, between the local dogs at night and lorries during the day, and especially the incessant wind, stronger than we had expected from Trade Winds.

The staff were, without exception, very friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast was good, varied, and plentiful. The pool was clean, but the weather a little too cool and windy for us to use it; the same applied to the sun terrace around it. Taxis were inexpensive, easily arranged through reception, but the vehicles were often old with no seatbelts. About two to three Euros into town, a little more at night. The small supermarket supplied all the sorts of food one might need to make a meal in the apartment.

Although the walls have been repainted and there have probably been some refreshment works, the bathroom really needs a major update. The toilet seat was absolutely horrible, stained. It looked like there had been mold that had been cleaned. The apartment was not very, very, very clean, and the wardrobe drawers were poorly designed – they couldn't be opened properly. It's a shame because part of it feels a bit outdated, while another part has been refreshed, creating a rather strange effect.

They could really use air-conditioning in the future! Also, while it was nice there was a minimarket downstairs, it was hard to scrape together a proper breakfast there.

We had only one short night at Las Rochas. The view of the sea was beautiful! The apartment was clean and the bed was comfortable. The guy at reception was nice and helpful. We enjoyed the pool.

It seems that it lost its glory. It once was probably really nice but it seems maintenance is not done that well. For 5 people, the appartment was too small.

The location is too far out of Mindelo. Taxi’s vary in price.. be careful. Also incredibly windy and unable to use the pool because it was so cold. No tea or coffee machine, had to use a saucepan to make a hot drink. No microwave oven. No set of knives. No broom or mop in the apartment. Incredibly basic for the price.

*Too far from the city and not much to do around the hotel. *Despite having a guard, a random drunk guy came to knock on my door late at night. *Sadly the hotel restaurant and hotel shop were closed after C-19 (no breakfast or grocery shopping)

Make sure you get the room you paid for. No restaurant around, you need to take taxi (3-4€ and just 5 min drive). There is a beach but you cannot swimm :(

Sadly the lunch nor dinner wasn’t available in January, the hotel restaurant served only breakfasts. Access to the background sand beach (artificially created) was sometimes locked but I didn’t find the system when it happens. Stuff speaks so so English, on the checkout, there were a guy on the reception that didn’t speak English at all and looked quite confused.

Breakfast buffet tables were great (if prepared), partly local and partly continental. We had the kitchen at the apartment and we’re able to make a lunch or dinner by ourselves. It’s great there is a grocery shop s a part of the hotel. I guess the pool area is also fine when you’re in season, but we’re there in January, it was a lot windy and water in pool was cold.

If you value the comforts of functioning WiFi, good location and good facilities, I can only suggest to avoid this place. It doesn’t even have a bar or restaurant, it’s in the middle of nowhere and the pool is built so it is in the shadow of the hotel after 14:30.

I liked everything!!!!!

I loved the location. The ocean view is so beautiful and the staff very helpful and accommodating. The apartment is very modern, clean with lots of room. I loved the bathroom, very spacious and modern. Very big deck with view of the ocean and lots of cool breeze. I loved everything about my stay there. The internet was also good and I was able to work.

Las Rochas is mostly prepared for long term stays. As we stayed for a few days we missed some services like bathroom towels change and basic supplies in the kitchen. It’s fare from the center of Mindelo, which could require a car to move around. Although booking mentions sea view it’s “side sea view” only. There is a lot of noise specially during the weekend nights.

As a positive note we really enjoyed the pool and a handy grocery store in the building.
