How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewAll the staff were really friendly! We had a lovely sea-view room, with a private outdoor seating area.
The pool is open to the public which is a lovely idea but I feel there should’ve been at least a few lounge chairs reserved for the actual paying guests. The air-conditioning was weak which made the nights not so comfortable. When we first arrived to our room, the bathroom floor was dusty and the towels were dirty (we didn’t complain about this as we had our own towels but feel it’s worth noting.)

Verified reviewLocation is incredible, the pool is perfect after a busy day around the island or Mindelo. The restaurant is also very good value, and staff is very helpful and speak good english. The rooms are cute and with sea views which make it very special
The bathroom has no door which is a bit strange. The room isn’t super clean but it’s not dramatic either.

Hotel needs update, swimming pool was not so clean. We arrived at about 17 o'clock but before getting the key from the room, staff needed to check it, so we have to wait.

Verified reviewThe hotel is very nice, the rooms are separated which provides privacy the staffs are friendly and professionals good size room equipped with some essentials things like coffee machine and mini fridge filled with goodies, very safe, and lastly the location is perfect and most places can easily be reached by just walking

Verified reviewThe front desk employees were really nice & helpful ! We had a beautiful room decorated with rose petals and red hearts, so nice from the hotel !
We had dinner + breakfast at the restaurant of the hotel and even if the food was good, the service was really bad. We wanted a cocktail but they only offered 2 options, we asked for draft beers and got bottles, the food took 1h30 to be served, the waiters were not helpful at all and it seems that they didn’t care at all about our table … sad because the food was actually good and the place was nice !

Verified reviewIt´s a nice hotel with good design but photos are better than reality. Staff is friendly at reception but a bit inexperienced on the check in. pleaseant pool but music is too loud so ends up not being too relaxing. Bed is amazing as well as linnen and bathroom super modern
The basin flush doenst very well, the pateo outside was very exposed so I didn´t have much privacy. Breakfast was always missing something and we had to order constantly, for the price i was expecting a bit more not only from breakfast but other amenities to be more luxury. You can get better accommodations or simliar for a smaller price in town. But for a couple nights to start the trip is not a bad choice, shame I stayed for 5.

Verified reviewClassy hotel in the harbour. Lazy cocktails by the pool, and on the doorstep of a stroll through Mindelo! It's also perfectly located to hop on the ferry to Santo Antao, which is a MUST. we didn't have the time to hike there, but did a day trip, arranged by Patrick at the hotel. Excellent day. The decor in the room was exquisite. The room also had a nice lounge area. Perfect!
Well, there is no door on the open plan bathroom. It didn't bother us, but might for some couples....you can always step onto the little balcony 😉 have a look at the harbour. BTW it's a large and very comfy bathroom!
