How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified review* Very nice welcoming by the owner, dear Maury and his sweet little son <3 * Everything clean, nice, presized, arranged, thought, prepared, cared with love and attention with extra care ... here ! * The room and the bathroom pretty spaciously large ! * Room was cleaned next morning since I forgot to tell that no need. * My room had some morning sun. * There is a net for mosquitoes. * Bed/mattress is not with springs its sponge type, yet pretty large size. (no small fridge) . * Small table with mirror and chair is helpful. Also having a fan in the room is excellent. * Bathroom has a bide if you like. * Excellent breakfast with all basic essentials, all made/prepared by Maury. Must try his homemade yogurt, and cake too. * Except check-in&out times, main door is locked and all guests can access to upper levels/rooms by side entrance with extra key, for security. There are signs of cams around the building too. * Location is 5-10 mins walk to the main seaside cost of Sal Rei. Post office, main shops, Chinese stores, local bars, bicas, cafes, restaurant, beaches and the Pier is walking distance. People around/on the streets are nice and welcoming. Just be aware with dogs at night time) And main Port is also nearby area. There is another beach near by (Praia de Cruz and Cabral but not ideal for sunbathing or swimming. Yet cute restaurant Cafe Alma Criola is nice! look for the CreoloTour people at lunch time, good tour! ) * Maury contacted me directly on W.app to check and arrange my arrival. Very kind and efficient. Can arrange taxi for you Yet all drivers know the B&B Salinas. He was also helpful for some info before and after I get there. * İts a calm and local area. there are some salt lakes behind. * what you see on photos is what you get, no bad surprise! Yet all nice in this place Grazie Maury
Nothing to the with the property maybe but i could not feel safe at dark / night because of dogs barking everywhere around the town at night. yet short taxi ride from the beachfront anyways

Verified reviewLeaving the place.
1) Attitude of the owner; he's just sold the business and obviously now running the place down. 2) Attempt by owner to involve me in his conspiracy to cheat booking.com of their rightful agency fees! 3) Filthy and unhealthy bathroom; my photos show the health hazards which include the risk of cuts to the fingers, legionnaire's disease, cryptosporidium and electrocution in the bedroom. 4) Cheap thinking #1 > see the raggy half (!) of a bathmat! 5) Cheap thinking #2 > not fruit juices for breakfast just sugary, fruit-flavoured drinks.
It is obvious that the review is TOTALLY MADE UP. Why didn't you write that she asked me, during check-in, where you could get drugs and that after a few days you accused the cleaning lady of stealing hashish from your room. As I told you that evening, knowing the girl very well, it was impossible that she had taken the hashish from you as she NEVER touches anything in the rooms, but after your insistence and excessive alteration, I had to call the police to calm you down and because you were starting to be annoying and dangerous even in front of another tourist present at that moment. The next morning, with the breakfast room full of tourists, you created scandal, panic and terror, repeatedly moving tables and chairs and making a loud noise, so much so that I had to reprimand you in front of everyone asking you to behave more calmly and respectfully. After you went up to your room, you sent me messages via WhatsApp where you yourself admitted to having found your hashish, obviously I have the screenshots of your messages. You came back every day or in the evening drunk and under the influence of drugs, clearly visible also to other tourists, you kept the music loud even at night annoying the other tourists, very worried about your behavior. I have been doing this activity for 8 years and I do it with passion, honesty and seriousness, this and what you write is obviously pure your invention and the MULTIPLE reviews of other HONEST tourists who pass here at the B&B SALINAS deny it.

Verified reviewVery nice place to stay! Super helpful and cool guy runs this place! Breakfast was delicious. Close to the beach and some nice restaurants. The host gives a lot of recommendations of where to eat and what's happening in town. The room was clean and spacious. Everything worked very well.

Verified reviewThe owner was friendly and did his best to advice on what to do, help whenever possible, recommend and explain. I asked beforehand for a quite room and indeed was allocated a room on the inner yard.
The room is spacious, but organized in a way that makes staying there not pleasant. There is not enough light, there is only a ceiling lamp which is not strong, and no bed light. The bathroom on the other hand has 2 lights and more light than the room… To read in the room even during the day I needed to use my mobile light. There is a chair but no table, sitting and working on the computer is very uncomfortable. Outside the room there are a table and a chair, but if I have to load the computer that’s not possible. There is a sitting area near the reception, but it is usually closed and can be used only when the owner is present. That’s a shame as it is rather pleasant and could compensate for the lack of comfort in the room. A third problem is the hot water in the shower. It becomes very hot for about 30 seconds and then starts cooling down. Even without washing my hair, the hot water is never enough and you end up with cold water. Also the location is not really pleasant, it feels rather desolate, and coming home at dark is certainly for a woman on her own not very pleasant. So while the owner was nice and helpful, the homemade bread and cake are tasty, I would probably not choose this B&B again and would also not recommend it to others. This while small changes could probably make a big difference in experiencing the accommodation. Better light, extra bed lamps, a table, more hot water in the shower - all would make me a lot more positive.
Thank you for the review and I'm sorry for your inconvenience. Before arriving you asked me not only for a quiet room but a room without a balcony and not facing the street. Since there are no single rooms available with the features you requested, I gave you a double room, even though I booked and paid for a single, which still has a large window in the room that, to have more light during the day, you just had to draw the curtains, plus there is a window in the bathroom. As for the light in the bedside table, unfortunately it was broken by the tourist who checked out the same day of your arrival and, being in high season with check-in and check-out every day at all hours, I honestly didn't have time to go and have it reassembled since they are all lamps made with shells or recycled pieces from the beaches or to buy a new one, while for the table it is present in the room just after the entrance door. As for the hot water, I have not encountered the problems you mentioned from any of the tourists who stay in your room every day, and neither do I who live in the room next door and therefore use the same hot water accumulator. In addition, after your review I asked the tourist who is currently staying in that room and he also denies this malfunction. As for the location, the B&B is in a street/area lit up in the evening by street lamps and, as I always say, Sal Rei is a quiet town to be able to wander around alone. Thanks again

Verified reviewMaury is truly the best host on the island, always friendly and helpful, keeping his B&B extremely clean and safe. He will always help you with anything you may be looking for - like taxi service or tours (both for a reasonable price), money exchange, information about the island, including daily live music tipps, restaurant reservations or tipps for visiting other islands. The rooms are very spacious, daily cleaning service and alltogether very friendly staff. Thank you Maury and I definitely will visit you again!

Verified reviewB&B Salinas is about a 5 minute walk to the beach 1 way & 2 minutes the other way. Well let's start with the breakfast of fruit salad, bread and jam & yogurt with cake. not our usual breakfast to be fair it was very nice. Our host & the girls serving breakfast we're very nice & polite & our room wS cleaned very often. It's basic the rooms but great for what we wanted. Good food around the area
We on 3 occasions during our stay had 3 to 4 very good fruit as we think sometimes the fruit is prepared overnight maybe? The reason we sat that is the juice in breakfast bowl & some of the fruit looked a bit offish but was nice to be fair.
Hello and thank you for the review that always helps us grow. As for the fruit salad during breakfast, we prepare it fresh every day at 7 in the morning and then we keep it in the fridge for breakfast. It may be that if you go down at 10.00 for breakfast the fruit remains a little more spoiled but it is still made fresh every day, while for the juice, we add a little of the tutti frutti flavor to ensure that the fruit salad does not remain too dry. I take this opportunity to greet you and thank you for being at the B&B SALINAS
