I will say the bedroom in the family apartment did get really hot during the day because it's in the direct line of the sun so make sure to close the blinds during the day. And because of rainy season, there were definitely mosquitoes, which is inevitable during that time of year. The guesthouse rooms stayed cooler in comparison because they were more shaded.

The Mendes family is so friendly, welcoming and helpful! They are always willing to answer your questions or just chat with you. You can also join Ildo in one of his workout classes during the week. The facilities are sufficient. The location is excellent, within walking distance of everything and I felt safe walking alone in this area. The first half, I stayed with the family and the apartment was a bit small but it had everything you needed. The second half, I moved to the guesthouse because they had a newborn baby. The guesthouse was very nice, however, it did not have a stove to cook on whereas the family home did.

I spent only one night at the Mendeses. They are really warm and welcoming and their apartment really is at the heart of the city. It's a great stay for solo travelers and I believe I will be back once again in Praia. Also Maia their cat is so funny how she demands to be petted 😸

No air conditioner.

Friendly host Suelly. She allowed us to stay the house till night on the departure day (due to huge delay of the flight). Location is at the center of city of Praia. There are a lot of restaurants near by.

* Nice and friendly people, family home feels warm. Nice welcoming. * I contacted them in advance ; friendly and helpful communication. * They can arrange taxi from / to airport ( But be aware that, at night, it may cost around 18 EUR / 1800 , CVE. ( April 2025) . However, this would be perhaps cheaper than catching one the airport . I cant remember how much it was on the day time but maybe around 12ish. *important* Payment is nothing to do with Mendes Family! directly with the taxi driver) 10-15 mins ride. * Basic breakfast is included yet fills enough at morning. > Sweet yellow thing , I think it was made by sugarcane ? was nice < * Lovely cat; Doesn't bother people ( Just be aware if you have a allergy or scared of ) its friendly. * (since its a family house, only cash can be accepted since its not a hotel.) * Thanks a lot for that they kindly waited for my late arrival due to the long delay with my flight. <3 I would stay again if I pass by Praia

The Mendes family is very nice and easy to communicate with. Their place is amazing for a short stay, you’ll get your room and shared bathroom. The environment is very friendly and you’ll get quick answers to your questions. Everything you need is close and easily accessible by walk. Will definitely stay again when I return to Praia.

The couple who own the flat are really kind and helpful, such a sweet family. The bedroom is comfortable and clean and they prepared me a good breakfast. They also helped answer all the questions I had about the area and organised a taxi for me from the airport. Extremely good value!

It should be mentioned that there is no aircon in room, for December it's fine since nights are pretty fresh. Inside room you have a fan but it's pretty noisy to leave it for all night. And if you have any pet allergies - there is a nice cat in apartment.

Location is good, right next to 5 de Julho pedestrian street. It's possible to find by yourself (even without the sign) - just follow the geotag, you will see the Medical building and you need the door #13 (as on the picture next to the #11 Medico). People are nice and quiet, Suely speaks a very good English. Also there is good wifi signal. You can make a coffee or tea at the kitchen and ask for a breakfast. I would say it's a good option for couple nights if you came not for all night partying. What was nice - there are earplugs in case if for you street noise is a problem (not for me, but it was nice)

Worst « stay » ever, I showed up at the door and it was closed, NOBODY. I had to book another hotel at 10pm in emergency. And despite numerous messages and informations exchanged 10 days before, they were not able to handle the booking. Thanks for this great introduction to Cabo Verde
