Excellent location in the heart of a beautiful valley surrounded by the most dramatic mountain landscape. Facilities were modest but get the job done. The rooftop dining provided an excellent start and finish to my day with incredible food.

A few large bugs managed to find their way into my room. But in a rural area that was expected and I did not mind.

Friendly authentic family-run guesthouse in a great location for exploring the dramatic ribeiras in north-east Santo Antao. The lesser-visited but highly spectacular Ribeiras Cha de Pedras and Figueiral are almost on the doorstep. A highlight was the very tasty and filling breakfasts and dinners prepared mostly with fresh ingredients from the family farm. Great views from the roof terrace at breakfast.

The breathtaking view was much better than we had imagined from the pictures. The dinner was also fantastic and the breakfast. We loved to stay there and the girl at the front desk was so lovely and friendly. Thank you for a great stay.

The ladies were very friendly. Delicious food and very well situated.

No Internet in the room downstairs, but the rest was perfect.

The host was really friendly and helpful. The dinner and breakfast were both delicious and generous. They also have free wifi available, which was unexpected.

Dinner was excellent and plentiful for a reasonable price. The staff is really friendly and helpful.

Room felt a bit dark and door window rather narrow.

First and foremost, the staff at Casa Pedrina is exceptional. Anton and Marlene hosted me throughout my stay. Both of them are superbly friendly, very welcoming and caring. Marlene cooks delicious food. Breakfast is always served with fresh Papaya. Dinner is always something slightly different yet amazing. Be it meat, fish or cachupo, it's all mouth-watering. Anton is a great host and offers to take you on trips or show you the garden. Unfortunately my schedule was a little too busy for either of these. The location is also marvelous. It seems not too many tourists know Coculi, a small village in a neighbouring valley of the more famous Paúl valley. It's a good location to stay to get to various places for hikes. Aluguers (collective minivans) travel quite frequently from here to Ribeira Grande, from where you can get another Aluguer to a different section. You can of course also get a taxi from here to wherever you want, though that is significantly more expensive (some places require a taxi, though).

Look, this is a guesthouse, not a hotel. It's a rather old house (with some interesting history - it used to be the first school in the village), therefore, don't expect top-notch, sparkling white facilities. Everything works here, though the drainage system in my bathroom did smell. I was prepared to put up with these slight discomforts, though, and for the price one cannot complain. The pros outweigh the cons here.
