How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Mr. António was a great host at every level: nice, helpful, kind and concerned about our stay. The breakfast was good and the location is perfect for hiking in the Paúl valley. Totally recommend!

Due to my food allergy I could only eat 1 egg and fruit. The bathroom was a little bit old and moldy. the springs of the mattresses were noticeable when sleeping. Also a big gap in the middle of the bed. Checking in and out was not very easy since the owner wasn’t available during these hours.
The staff making breakfast was very friendly. Location was amazing and opposite a good restaurant. View was amazing and the pool was nice.

breakfast was not on time prepared (what is a problem if the entire hotel is ready at 8am to eat, but no food there)

Rooms are basic, hard beds and old badroom. Sober breakfast
Good location to start hikes in Paul valley, small (but very cold) swimming pool. Room has airco (though not necessarily needed in November)

Cleaning could be better, bathroom door blocks and makes a lot of noise while closing. Door to the room can only be openend with the key also from the inside. By use with two persons, when the nummer one leaves with the key, the second person is looked in.
Beautiful locatie in de valley. Nice garden with pool. Friendly helpful owner.

There are no restaurants in walking distance but it's a short taxi ride to Paul, there a plans for a new restaurant across the road to be open in the summer.
Tony and Alice were great hosts, the breakfast was very good and it's in a quiet location.

Cannot think of anything.
We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, straight from our hike which started at the Cova crater - Vale do Paul. The location was very convenient for our travel plan. There is a grocery store right next to the hotel, and a restaurant opposite to it. The hotel is very well maintained, there is a nice pool in the garden and breakfast is also served there (it was a very good one!). The room was clean, air-conditioned, with comfy beds. We spent 2 nights there and could not enjoy the second breakfast but the host was very kind and gave us some bananas for our next hike (Cruzihna - Ponta do Sol). He also arranged a taxi for us upon departure, overall he was very attentive and welcoming.

Tonys place is wonderful. He is the kindest host ever. Rooms are good, restaurant across the road and the perfect location to start your walks in Paul. Superb place.

There were frogs croaking very loud all night, mattress were quite uncomfortable and rooms needed some maintenance

Secluded courtyard room just in front of the little pool. We loved outstay here. It was peaceful with a nice sized clean room and bathroom. A delicious and varied breakfast was included in the price and our hosts couldn’t have been more helpful with choosing treks and organising onward transport. Highly recommend

It was all good
Our host was exceptional. He was warm, well informed and responsive to our needs. He made excellent suggestions and arrangements for eating in the evening. We greatly enjoyed watching the football game between Cabo Verde and Mauritania with Tony and some of his other guests. The rooms were arranged around a very pretty courtyard which also housed the pool

Tony is a great host and very knowledgeable about the local area. He is always kind and willing to help or lend advice. The breakfasts were great and make for a lovely atmosphere where guests have an opportunity to meet eat together each morning. The guest house is very serene, set amongst the hills and sugar cane fields of Eito. It's a perfect location, away from pombras, nestled in the valley. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I would definitely recommend staying here. Thanks Tony

Everything was great
I spent 4 days here with a friend and we had such a lovely time staying at Antonio’s hotel. The hotel is tucked away in Eito (around 20mins walk to Pombas) and surrounded by lush vegetation.. a real disconnection from real life :) That being said the wifi works really well if needs be. Antonio was a great help suggesting hikes and restaurants in the area as well as being super friendly. The added bonuses were the breakfast to get ready for the long walks and the pool afterwards! Thanks to Antonio and your team for making the stay super memorable.

It is a great place to stay! It is in walking distance of Paul and it is so beautiful!! Very easy to take one of the busses to the start of the route of the vulcano! Deffinetly recommend!
