As with many Caribbean-style accommodations the sinks do not have hot water and water pressure and drainage can sometimes present minor challenges. We are pleased to see that you were satisfied with our external appearance. We regret that your experience with our value for money was not pleasant, but are pleased to know that you see our potential. We would like to emphasize that we are constantly trying to maintain our hotel to standard due to our properties being monumental buildings made from coral stone and sand, which require regular upkeep. It is possible that due to the different tasks some areas might take a while to get the attention required but do not hesitate to point these out to us in order to make sure that these are taken care of as well. Please know that we strive for transparency regarding all charges, including taxes, service fees, and electricity. You did, however, book our most affordable room at a lower rate than stated in your review, which is competitive for the area. We do our best to balance value with comfort in this popular location. Comfort & Location: We’re pleased that you found the room comfortably furnished and enjoyed our proximity to the town. We aim to provide a cozy and convenient setting for all our guests. Noise Issues: We sincerely apologize for any disturbance caused by the noise from nearby establishments. While we do note on our website and booking platforms that we are located in the vibrant heart of Pietermaai, we understand it may not have been clear enough, and we will take steps to make this more noticeable in future communications. We are also committed to working with local businesses to help minimize the impact on our guests. Thank you for your patience. Address & Room Allocation: Our hotel is indeed unique, spread across multiple buildings in Pietermaai, which is part of its historic charm. We apologize if this caused confusion. While the central lobby is at Pietermaai 51, the layout allows us to provide diverse and characteristic rooms in the heart of the area. Room Facilities: We’re sorry for the issues you encountered with the bathroom. We’ve already addressed the minor leak with the hand shower, and we’ll take your feedback about the outlet seriously to improve future guest experiences. Regarding the shower’s condition, as this was a newly renovated room, we haven’t noticed peeling, but we will re-check it to ensure everything meets the highest standards. Outdoor Seating & Air Conditioning: We’re sorry that the outdoor seating and air conditioning placement didn’t meet your expectations. We’ll reassess the layout to enhance the overall comfort of the outdoor space. Pool Size & WiFi: We appreciate your feedback on the pool and WiFi. Given our central location in the city, the pools are designed for refreshing dips rather than swimming. However, we will certainly explore ways to improve the WiFi coverage in common areas, including around the pool, to ensure a more seamless experience. Late Check-Out: We understand that a late check-out would have been more convenient for you, and we do offer this option for a nominal fee when availability allows. Unfortunately, during your stay, we were fully booked, and your room was reserved for another guest, so we were unable to extend check-out past 1 PM. Once again, we sincerely appreciate your feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve and hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back in the future to provide a more enjoyable experience.

We highly appreciate your feedback regarding the maintenance of our gardens and will be improving this immediately. We are currently awaiting new pool cushions and are expecting to receive these this week in order to elevate the pool experience for our guests. We are currently indeed only providing 1 body and 1 hand towel per guest along with 1 bath mat per room. However, if you request extra towels during the stay we gladly provide these. Dear Michael, It is such a pleasure to read that the staff was friendly and very helpful to you during the stay and that you enjoyed our location and nice garden. We shared your compliments about the breakfast service with the staff at Van Gogh. We appreciate your feedback about the breakfast menu, lack of wardrobe or dresser, stairs, railing, kitchen equipment and swimming pools. We will actively look for ways to improve these points in the near future. For a next stay we definitely recommend booking a Classic or Deluxe room as some of these have a wardrobe and no stairs or railing. We also recommend notifying the reception if you want extra or missing kitchen equipment in order to be able to provide this if available. We will also discuss the daily cleaning with housekeeping as the rooms should be swept daily. Due to the location of our hotel there is indeed a higher chance of street noises especially on certain nights such as Thursday (Punda Vibes) or Saturdays when Mundo Bizarro and the Nieuwestraat have live music. We are delighted to read that you enjoyed the location of our accommodation as well as our facilities and the atmosphere of the apartment. Our reception is indeed only open from 8:00am till 21:00pm. After that we close the front gates meaning that it is no longer possible to access our terrace. We try our best to always have someone at the front desk but on some days it could happen that one or both front desk agents have to aid a guest simultaneously. We do have drying racks available upon request. Do not hesitate to let our reception know if you need one of these during your stay.
