How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewA real gem in one of the most picturesque villages of Cyprus. The famous Omega beach with its crystal clear waters is 30 steps down from the hotel itself. You can spend hours on the balcony watching the blue Mediterranean Sea or the amazing sunsets. This family owned hotel worths every penny to enjoy a relaxing vacation or a weekend getaway to Cyprus’s best kept secrets that resembles the Cannes in southern France.

Verified reviewThe bed was comfortable, the bathroom renovated, the bedroom in general was renovated but not fully. There was a mini fridge which is good to use to have some cold water during summer. As for the breakfast: normal breakfast for a 2 start hotel, not much choices but it is what it is. The view was OK.
The hotel consists of 2 buildings. The main building and the 2nd one just next to it, but it is an open building not providing the feeling of staying at a hotel with privacy or safety. Even though the reviews state that the hotel is renovated, our room was not fully renovated as other rooms. For example the room door is really old and doesn't feel safe. The locker is really old and dirty. The room was dirty, the window rails, the veranda glass, the walls and the sheets. The walls were broken and at the veranda it was obvious that the sealing was in a bad condition, and paint pieces falling everyday. The chair cushions were dirty. I understand is a 2 star hotel but the cleanliness should not be a question. Towels: ripped and too old. Very important is the electricity: our first day there, there was fire some where near and the electricity was cut off. We called reception and they didn't know the reason and when the electricity was coming back, and they could not provide me any relevant info. I checked with the restaurant we were before and the other hotel, and they had electricity generators which they used. This hotel probably did not have! It was really hot, we wanted to rest after our lunch and the long trip we had, but we could not. The cleaners go into your room to clean if you are not there, as there is no sign (no cleaning/do not disturb etc) to put at your door, and not only that they opened my suitcase to put mine and my child pj's in! First of all this is disgusting for me and secondly your are not allowed to open my suitcase! And they left door unlocked as well, while I was double locking it when I was leaving the room!! As for the breakfast: there was a moth flying into the cheese and meet window display. The windows were closed and no a/c. The room doors are too old so people drag and hit them to close! Seriously people, use your key! Our last day, there was so much noise just under our room from engineers adding railings!

Verified reviewThis was our second visit to EJ Pyrgos Hotel. It is a small family run hotel with clean comfortable rooms and breathtaking views. After a day enjoying Omega beach, and exploring the town of Pyrgos, we fell asleep listening to the waves crashing.The following morning we enjoyed a delicious traditional Cypriot breakfast with haloumi, anari, Cypriot bacon, and hard boiled eggs. The breakfast was served only until 9:30. Too early for people on a summer vacation- usually hotels offer breakfast until 10:30am. Privacy was also a concern. The rooms didn’t seem to be soundproof.
