How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewEverything great. Very kind staff. Location about 10 minutes by walking from our trip target makes our stay calm without any street noises. Perfect.
Poor WiFi signal, but we can’t complain.

Verified reviewCozy, spacious rooms. Proper TV.
Breakfast was a bit too simplistic given the nature of the hotel.

Verified reviewExceptional old villa, perfectly maintained—own parking and a garden around. Large room in classic style, looks more authentic than the nowadays popular imitations. Perfect position in town, a bit aside from noisy central streets, but very close to them - just 5 minutes on foot. Very good breakfast, useful and friendly staff. Very green district.
Staff try hard to be helpful, just not everyone speaks English (mostly don't). Everyone speaks Russian, as everywhere in town, which far not always helps in nowadays Europe.

Verified reviewWe booked for one night and loved it so much we extended our stay! Absolutely wonderful, one of the best accommodations we've ever had! Comfort, cleanliness, great breakfast, parking in the yard, friendly staff, birdsong and it's located a 20 minute leisurely walk from the city center which is delightful!
It is not the case.

Verified reviewThe service both at the reception and the restaurant for breakfast were very good and helpful
The metal frame from the bed where my daughter slept was sticking out through the mattress. Very dangerous.

Verified reviewIt had parking (paid) at the premises and an elevator, although there were still steps to carry luggage up.
1) Only hotel that didn't provide facial tissue. 2) Worse, when we were leaving, the already loose handle to one of their building doors fell off while my sister was opening it and they blamed it on us. We insisted we didn't have the strength to spoil their door, whether on purpose or accidentally. In the end they didn't make us pay for it but it was upsetting to be blamed for something that wasn't our fault. It's like they didn't fix their failing equipment, waiting to blame it on the unlucky guest, so they can get more money. 3) There is an elevator, yes, a small one. But there are still a few steps to lug luggage up. How many steps depends on where you get to park your car, which determines the floor you can enter by. But every entrance has some steps.
Upon arrival at the hotel, the clients had constant problems with practically everything. One of the problems, as they mention in the complaint, was the stairs. It is completely incomprehensible that when a client books a hotel, they do not look at the photo gallery…there are photos on the booking website where the stairs to the reception are clearly visible! The clients were arrogant and unpleasant from the beginning, but we tried to patiently meet their demands, for which they could not even thank or greet. However, we are professionals and we know that people are different. Regarding the door handle mentioned: It was the handle on the back door leading to the hotel parking lot. It is the shortest way to transfer luggage from the car to the hotel interior. One of the clients slammed the door so hard that she damaged the handle so much that it was necessary to call a locksmith. It was not possible to repair it ourselves, i.e. through our maintenance man. Our maid was present at the time of the incident and immediately reported the incident to the reception. For this reason, we know for sure who damaged the door handle and how. It is quite common that if a client damages or destroys hotel property, whether intentionally or unintentionally, they are responsible for paying for the damage. However, we did not demand anything in the end and it was in our interest that the clients leave our hotel as soon as possible! Never again! Hotel Mignon

Verified reviewAn exceptionally beautiful hotel right across the street from one of the most beautiful (Russian Orthodox) churches I have ever seen. The staff are very friendly and parking is available. The room was huge and very charming. In the very large bathroom I actually had a big bath tub, which I really liked. Breakfast was also served much later than most hotels, which is nice when you are on holiday.
The breakfast could be better. They for example only had bread rolls and not fresh bread that you can cut yourself.
