How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewthe supermarket was right next to the hostel
When we arrived, we were told that the water doesnt work. Even though, we didnt get any money back. The furniture is very old and low quality. On the floor under one bed is a big hole in the floor. The hostel doesnt have any good connection to trainstation or bus station. We needed to walk through a forest for half an hour to get to the station. Even though we expected it, there was no kitchen. We only had a refridgerator and a kettle. There was also only 1 spoon, 3 forks and 4 knifes. If we hadnt brought our own knifes we would have had a big problem. We were promised in the description of the hostel to get free hygiene items, that was a lie, we didnt get any. The bed was too big for the room so we were not able to close the door. The walls were very thin and the neighours were always smoking, the smell was very herassing and made us uncomfortable. We were given tovels, which was very nice. But when I used one after showering, i was covered in pubic hair which came out of the given tovel. That was very disgusting and showed us how unhygienic the whole hostel was. All in all very disappointing. We want a part of our money back.
Dear Paula, When you arrived, there was a one-hour hot water outage affecting the entire district of Prague 9. This was not due to any fault or issue with our hotel. All buildings in the area were affected. There is no hole in the floor. Under one of the beds, there is only a tiny indentation – likely the imprint of a heavy object – which our cleaning staff unfortunately overlooked. The connection to both the train and bus station is sufficient; there is absolutely no need to walk through the forest for 30 minutes :) This is the first time I’ve ever heard such a thing :) :) It is always a good idea to check all available transport options online in advance or to simply ask at the reception desk during your stay – where you would have been given accurate information. You did not book a room with a kitchenette. Despite this, you were given access to a room with a fridge and a microwave in the hallway – and yet you complain about missing cutlery. Truly appreciated. Regarding smoking: I hope you understand that I cannot (and will not) forbid other guests from smoking on their own private balconies – each room has one. You wrote that your stay was a disappointment. I am sorry to hear that. However, I must also say I was disappointed by the false statements you made, and the fact that during your entire stay, you did not mention a single issue at reception or by phone. The floors were dirty, with leftover food (chips) on the ground. The lights were full of dead insects. The kitchen was not clean: the dishes and the kettle were dirty, and the cabinets were falling apart, with one barely attached to the wall. There was a visible hole in the wall. The bed linens smelled strongly of sweat, and the towels had a bad odor even immediately after use. Even the replacement towels had the same issue. The mattresses were extremely thin and worn, making it uncomfortable to sleep as the bed frame could be felt through them. The electrical installation appeared unsafe, with excessive use of extension cords and the antenna cable running through the window frame, preventing the window from closing properly. We have emailed the pension management (with pictures), but we have not received any reply within a week.

With all due respect, food leftovers on the floor, a dirty hallway, or unwashed dishes in the apartment we provided could only have appeared during your stay — most certainly NOT before your arrival. All rooms are thoroughly inspected before each guest's arrival by our head of housekeeping, including a detailed check of the bed linens. As for the claim that the bed sheets or towels had an unpleasant odor — I’m sorry, but that is simply not true. We take cleanliness very seriously, especially when it comes to linens and towels. Regardless of how you personally felt about your stay, not once during your 6-day stay did you contact our reception or call us to report any issues. Even when I met you personally next to our office and gave a small gift to your little daughter, I asked if you were satisfied, and your response was positive. You didn’t mention a single problem. If you had simply communicated that something wasn’t to your satisfaction, we would have gladly offered you another room or addressed any issues right away. But instead, you chose to remain silent the entire time and then leave a list of complaints afterward — many of which are clearly false. If someone is unable or unwilling to communicate in a timely manner, it ultimately ends up being detrimental for both sides. You were given a two-room apartment at no extra charge, and that apartment was in perfectly acceptable condition. If you were expecting a 5-star hotel, then perhaps you should have booked one. Verified reviewI liked the staff, the man at the reception was very nice, even the owner, but the beds were not as comfortable as I expected and the duvet I didn't have was for a couple, it was only for one person, the linens were quite modest but clean, I missed the iron that was on the list when I booked, the hairdryer, and the coffee and tea maker.

Verified reviewIt really was an amazing stay, the staff is welcoming, even the people that did not understand English were really nice. We got a huge room, fridge, wifi, bathroom and everything you'd need, there's a supermarket in front as well. Besides that, the room was clean, warm and cozy and also had nice decorations, we got out own building key and private parking. It's way better than the photos which is a really rare. The place may seem a bit far from the city center initially, but it's super easy to get there and pretty fast and the owner will help you with directions for public transport which worked really smooth for us. We really loved the stay and would love to return one day, thank you a lot!

We place great emphasis on ensuring that our guests are comfortable and warm during the winter months. In fact, some guests even inform us with a smile that the radiators in their rooms are excessively warm, requiring them to ventilate frequently. The kitchenettes are well-equipped and lack nothing essential. From our reception staff, I was informed that during your stay, you disrupted the nighttime peace and were under the influence of alcohol on both evenings. Other guests complained that they were unable to sleep due to the noise coming from your room. I believe there is nothing more to add on this matter. I wish you all the best. Overall Mood was disturbed seeing the hotel and its ambience. Some of the lights in the corridor was not even working. The lights were also very dim. One light in the kitchen was not working. The kitchen was especially not good It looked like they have made a storage room a kitchen. There is only a Microwave , a kettle and a fridge available. there is no cooking stove nor utensils, only few cutlery set was available. Overall the ambience was not at all good. The neighbour room was so loud and noisy. Not recommended for families.
Dear Mr Prasad, thank you for your review. In no way do I agree with your statement that our accommodation is not suitable for families. Quite the opposite. Accommodation with us is very suitable for families, which is confirmed by many guests in their reviews before you. Unfortunately, the problem was that you were disturbing the night's peace every single night. You were a large group (17 people) and the adults and your children were shouting, arguing and in a similar way very significantly disturbing the peace of the night. Even at 1:00 in the morning. You were very politely and empathetically warned several times by our receptionists and myself BUT unfortunately you continued this behavior during your entire stay. We never have a problem with clients from India, they usually behave nicely, politely and intelligently, but what you demonstrated was something incredible. You are bringing great shame to the people of India. Regarding your description of the kitchen: I have personally explained to you several times that you have misread the description of our accommodation. It's not my fault, it's yours. There is problem with communication between Booking and the place. Booking confirmed us availability of cot for children, however this was not communicated with the accommodation and hence we did not have child bed. This was highly inconvenient. Apparently this is not the only example of miscommunication between booking and this place. Booking needs to communicate with this accommodation and if unable to communicate properly requirements and equipment of the place, then remove this accommodation from its listing. Apart from that, there was different price than advised and also no possibility to pay by card. Accommodation was expensive considering the location and facitilities. Definitely not staying there again.

Verified reviewThe room was spacious and clean. You could tell they did their best to ensure the room and facilities were clean and well put together for a hostel style hotel. The dining room was set up great for younger kids and the beds were comfortable (by european standards). The staff was friendly and answered any questions quickly.
The room included a kitchenette that didn't have necessary items (cutting board, knives, can opener, etc) as well as no cook top. The bathroom was clean but the bathtub was set up for showers (no drain plug) but didn't have a shower curtain. It made showers awkward for everyone, especially the kids. As well, the curtains in the bedroom only covered half the windows so we had early morning wake up calls thanks to sunrise at 5am. Not the worst issues but inconvenient and a bit annoying. If we had known those things would be an issue we could have accommodated and simply brought our own.
