How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewHotel Podhrad is located right in the centre of Hluboká, just a short walk from the beautiful Hluboká castle. There are several restaurants and cafe's in the area or you can enjoy a delicious Czech lunch or dinner on the veranda. The rooms are comfortable, although if you stay during summer you may wish you had a fan.
The rooms look like they could use some upgrading, especially as the nightstand had a broken shelf and in summer it is very hot with small windows not able to cool the room.

Verified reviewHotel has a great location directly in the center. Close to the castle, close to all the cafes and the restaurants. I have to say, ladies in the hotel restaurant, where we had a dinner, were really kind and helpful and food was really delicious.
We were quite disappointed with many things. First thing - air-condition - it was 35 degrees outside, we were directly under the roof, I understand, building in the historical city center should look historical and can't have air-condition on the facade, so I called the reception, if they maybe have some fans. They have.. For 500,-CZK. Ok, for 500,-CZK I can buy my own fan.. If you have no air-condition, it is hot summer and you have most of the rooms under the roof, I would definitely expect fans in every room for free for everyone. Parking - we booked parking space next to the hotel, we were told, it doesn't work like that, you can book, but there is no guarantee you will get the spot. And we can go to park to some other parking lot - we went there, it was full.. And also full of broken glass and dirt. Ok, I'm not very sensitive, but I would expect something else, if I have to pay for parking. I asked lady at the reception, what now? She didn't know, we should look somewhere in the city, it is no charge until 9 AM. We looked and it was full.. So we can go to park next to the food store.. Breakfast - first morning - no vegetables. We have kids and we try to eat at least a little healthy. So we asked, if we can get any tomatoes? Cucumbers? Paprika? Nope.. They don't have.. I got quite angry.. So 30 minutes later, big plate of vegetables arrived. One.. For all the guests. We were happy. Next morning, there were still some vegetables. 3rd morning - nothing again. I don't know, if it is too much to expect - vegetables in the summer time. Our family members stayed two more nights and there were no vegetables later on. Fridge in the room - was heating.. Really hot. We have a little kid, so we need milk and fridge, nope, can not use it. We switched it off and next day on, it was cold for some hours, that again - warm. Door to the room was falling off its hinges.

Verified reviewNice hotel in an ancient remodeled building. Good breakfast served in the restaurant. Restaurant is good as well for dinner, just be aware of the closing time of the kitchen. Small but nice swimming pool and sauna area.
Small improvements can enhance the comfort: the bathtub has a curtain but no hook for the shower head....

Disappointing stay. Unfriendly staff, pool access required prebooking and extra payment (not mentioned before). No kettle in the room. Breakfast at 9am had many items already gone and not restocked.

Verified reviewThe hotel was in the centre of town, close to the famous Hluboka castle. There is a restaurant and large terrace. The breakfast was really good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was clean and comfortable.
It was a very hot day so the only thing missing was air conditioning or even a fan in the room.
