Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOne must accept that this is a historic building, so there are not lifts to every room, and there is no aircon , but we felt these were minnor inconveniences .
We felt very privileged to stay in the Hotel Stekl, which is virtually an Annex to the adjacent landmark castle, which is visited by thousands every day. Therefore, the hotel is at the top of a quite steep hill, so there are beautiful views. The staff were extremely helpful ,and as we stayed for 11 days , we made friends with many. The restaurant food was outstanding.

HungaryWellness area is small. Finish sauna is for extra charge. Staff is unprofessional, tasks are under organised. They wanted to charge extra items on the bill, we did not have. Common areas badly needs renovation.
Authentic castle hotel next to Hluboka castle. It has big rooms, kitchen is good, not expensive. Pet friendly. Exhibited Excalibur car is amazing. We loved it, the style.

IrelandNothing really.
Really elegant hotel in a castle. Spacious and comfortable room with a small stairs to a lookout on the roof of the castle. Very gracious staff and good food in the restaurant too! The pool area is small but still really nice.

SwedenEverything was just perfect - location, our room, staff, food, etc. Really good value for money. Pool is very small, but since it was never too many people in the spa area, it was enough for us to enjoy it. Will definitely come back in the future.

LatviaHowever, attention should be paid to room cleaning – we found unpleasant traces from previous guests. During our 7-day stay, the bed linen was not changed even once, and towels were replaced only once.
A magnificent hotel in a stunning location with an amazing view from the window. Excellent service. Very friendly staff in the restaurant.

The hotel location is exceptional, just next to the famous Chateau, which I can say is one of the most beautiful castels in Europe. The hotel rooms are spacious and clean, the furnishing suiting the entire royal castle theme Breakfast and dinner were generous with the most polite and friendly staff always eager to offer a friendly smile and help. The well thought of and selected choices of calming music always playing in the background of the restaurant and courtyard is fascinating and welcoming. Infant my wife and I have made up our minds after this visit to revisit this beautiful hotel whenever we have the opportunity to

Netherlands(Good) bed was with head side to a window with view on the inner yard. But no curtain for privacy. So you have to be keen with the light in your room, not to give a nice bed show to the public on the yard :-)
Location, entourage and room were good. Room had nice ambiance due to the attic roof shape.

United KingdomLuggage could be challenging. The lift is tiny one person size from the garage and our room was on a different level again. However we managed..

Czech RepublicIt would be nice to have a sauna in addition to the steam room. It is a bit of an uphill slog to the hotel with luggage if you come by train, which might be challenging for some guests.
Our room was beautifully furnished with stunning views. The room and bath were both spacious and comfortable and the whole ambience was special and romantic. The proximity to the castle and park was great -- we enjoyed lovely walks and also the art museum that is located in the castle grounds. Both dinner and breakfast were tasty. The wellness area was pleasant. Would recommend and stay again.

It’s in a wonderful location right next to the castle, in the upgraded room is actually a suite. The price of about $200 even includes breakfast and dinner and access to a complete spa with Jacuzzi, never-ending pool, and Sana.

Czech RepublicThe property suffered a lot from humidity/water and is quite run down, the ceilings and walls in many places are destroyed. It does add to the castle vibe, but might just bother some people for this price especially. We still felt good about the stay as the staff was honest and the rooms were really clean, just the reconstructiom is tough and covid did not help either, of course, so we decided to treat it a bit like we are supporting the reconstruction :) because there was quite a bit of visible damage everywhere. We hope more guests visit the hotel to help them rebuild faster.
The location is amazing, the Spa&services are good: massages recommended! The steam room is a bit cold but the private sauna is as it should be. We stayed at a Royal suite. The breakfast has enough variety and good quality products. The dinner is great if you like local cuisine, but ultimately, anyone will find something good in the menu. The restaurant and the wellness look as new. The swimming pool has a ounter current :) 2 lane bowling and infoor digital golf is present. We liked the "cigar" lounge near the restaurant as well. The experience overall was very enjoyable and the bed and bed linens were comfy and pristine, blackout curtains present as well and there is a minibar and a safe box. Outside there is a bow amd crossbow shooting range, near Hluboka Castle. This also seems like a great place for a wedding.

GermanyThe mattresses were too soft, but we were told they will be replaced very soon for new ones. Would be nice to have a water boiler + tea and coffee in the rooms.
Hotel Stekl gives great impression from moment you see it in person, atmosphere is both luxury and relaxing. The staff were all super sympa and helpful. We had a problem with the rooms when we arrived, and the manager Jana helped us to switch rooms efficiently and smiling, Food was very good - rich offer in the buffet for half-board. The location is perfect just at the entrance to Hluboka chateau and rooms with a view are worth it. Rooms are large, elegant and very comfortable.
