How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewBreakfast had a good selection of cold and hot food along with pastries and cakes. Coffee machine worked well and tasted good. Juice could be improved...very diluted and tasteless. Otherwise, all was good.
Nothing. The hotel was lovely, the room was perfect (updated, clean, large, view of square, and yet quiet at night). Beds very comfortable. Centrally located in square with easy access everywhere.

We booked this stay at Hotel Old Inn in Český Krumlov (2–3 August) as the beginning of our honeymoon, hoping for a peaceful, romantic experience. Instead, we got the exact opposite — a night and morning that felt more like a bad prank than a 4-star hotel stay. Around 1 a.m., the entire hallway echoed with loud music blasting from speakers brought by a group of about 8–10 young, German-speaking men. The noise was coming directly from the corridor, not even from a closed room — and nothing was done about it. The next morning, during breakfast, we had the misfortune of sitting near the same group. They were obnoxiously loud, disrupting the peace for everyone around them. I politely asked if they could lower their voices — and in response, one of them told us to "fuck off" to another table. When I declined, they began mocking us, clearly thinking their behavior was hilarious. I speak some German — what they were saying was disgusting, rude, and beyond inappropriate. My appetite vanished. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, one of them walked by our table, pointed his backside at my face, and deliberately farted — followed by laughter from the group. I had been planning to at least finish my coffee, but after that, we stood up and left. My fiancée went to the reception to report this. The response? “The general manager is aware.” And that’s it. No action. No solution. No apology. As we tried to calm down and finish breakfast, the same man returned with a shout: “I’m back, did you miss me?” Clearly, this group knew they could get away with anything — and they did. We went to the front desk again and got the same indifferent response. We cut our visit short, skipped checkout, and left Český Krumlov altogether. What should’ve been a beautiful start to our honeymoon turned into a degrading, humiliating experience.

I am truly sorry that what should have been a peaceful and joyful start to your honeymoon turned into such a distressing situation. Please rest assured that we took this matter very seriously. Immediately after your report, our shift supervisor, Mr. Foued, personally approached you to express our regret and concern. Furthermore, the group of gentlemen responsible for the unacceptable behaviour was also approached and addressed directly by our team. They acknowledged their actions and expressed their own apologies, explaining that they had been celebrating the night before a wedding and regrettably overindulged in alcohol. While this explanation does not excuse their behaviour in any way, I hope it helps to clarify that we did take active steps to confront the issue as it unfolded. Once again, I deeply regret that your experience with us did not reflect the standards we aim to uphold. I sincerely hope you will accept our heartfelt apology and that this unfortunate incident does not overshadow the joy of your honeymoon. Should you consider returning to Český Krumlov in the future, I would be grateful for the opportunity to personally welcome you and ensure a completely different — and truly memorable — experience. Verified reviewThe hotel is beautiful. Although they’re century old buildings, it’s very well updated with a modern and sleek design. Our room was very spacious and clean. It’s right in the town square which has a number of restaurants and cafes. You can get anywhere within minutes! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Verified reviewA really interesting old building refurbished with modern amenities. The floor plan made it feel like we were walking through different chambers in a chateau. Our room was very comfy and looked directly onto the main square. We’ve stayed at six inns in Czechia, all with nice breakfasts, but this was the best one so far. The variety and quality of foods were great. There was even fresh kiwi as a fruit option. The options to make your own muesli were many. (The walnuts were especially good). It was the first breakfast layout where I couldn’t sample everything I wanted. There was even staff were welcoming and professional (and spoke English well.) The location on the main square cannot be beat.
I don’t know the history, but the name was a bit offputting when we looked for places. Yes it is old, but it’s beautiful and unique. I doubt the owners want to change the name, but of course we would stay there again.

Verified reviewThe accommodation was pleasant, recently renovated, clean, and modern. Breakfast was tasty and of good quality. The breakfast area was spacious, bright, airy, and very pleasant to spend time in. We were assisted at the reception by Mr. Foved, who was very polite, friendly, and helpful. Although we experienced longer waiting times during both check-in and check-out, he always apologized courteously, which we greatly appreciated.
Getting clear information about parking was difficult, and we ultimately had to figure everything out on our own. The hotel did not provide sufficient instructions regarding parking and did not respond to our messages. I also noticed that several other guests had raised similar concerns online, but the responses from the hotel were not helpful. Additionally, the breakfast selection could be more varied and generous, especially considering the price, as it felt rather basic.
