How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe flat was very nice and the location marvellous! Felt very safe walking in the surroundings. The flat itself was big, equipped with everything you might need, even the dishwasher and washing machine. The hosting lady was super nice. I was working "home office" during the stay, she allowed us to stay until 3pm in the afternoon. The parking spot was on the street next to the building and free of charge.
The only thing that i did not like was, there were no guests probably for a longer time in the flat, because as we came we needed to get rid of like 8 spiders that were in the corners inside the flat. Unfortunately, I am super sensitive to that.

Verified reviewThe accomodation was in a good location - not too far from the center of Karlovy Vary. Also, parking was available on the street for free.
We asked the owner to provide one more chair so that we could all sit down together at the table, which was duly done by the time we arrived. However, for 5 people, there were 4 beddings and 4 towels. I immediately contacted the owner via booking.com but had no answer during our stay, i.e. we didn't get a 5th bedding or towel, either. What bothered us the most, though, was that this accomodation has a double bed (very uncomfortable) plus one sofa in the living room which is maximum for 2 children and we travelled with 3 kids. I DO NOT reccomend this accomodation for more than 4 people, it is simply not big enough to accomodate more than 2 adults + 2 kids.

Verified reviewAn old-style villa located in a residential area. Very clean flat. Furnishings reasonably new and complete. Very friendly and helpful host. Located close to the main promenade, although you have to pay attention to the terrain. If you have a lot of suitcases and luggage, it is worth considering a taxi or Bolt from the station.
No reason to complain

Verified reviewIt was five of us so we booked two units. There was a nice very comfortable bed in each bedroom and a big sofa bed in a living room. Each unit had a modern kitchen with a good choice of cookware and utensils. The place is away from noisy streets but at the same time you do not need to drive to get to the Thermal pool or Colonnade. We still used the car however because we had one elderly person traveling with us. The parking was free on the street by the building. The internet was amazing too- we watched UEFA without interruptions..
It has been a long time since we had nothing to complain about…

Verified reviewWe are full-time travelers who stayed in the apartment with the white kitchen. Location: we had a car and wanted somewhere with free parking, away from crowds, and within a short walk to grocery stores. Villa Serena ticked all of the boxes. Parking is on the street but oddly not the one in front of the building. We parked around the corner and noticed there were always one or two spots nearby. We did not ask about parking in the garage as our car was too large. We walked to the tourist area every day and to the grocery store (Lidl is more convenient than Albert). The walks were not burdensome, even during the heatwave. The apartment: I need light and preferred the lighter kitchen and was very happy to see this apartment had a ton of sunlight, especially with the dining room and bedroom facing south. The kitchen is not large but is one of the most well stocked (plates, glasses, silverware, pots & pans) we have encountered in four years of traveling. It does not have cooking staples, you will need to provide them yourself. The apartment overlooks the backyard and neighbor's garden which made it feel very homey. The furniture is comfortable, with the bed neither too soft nor hard. The bedroom wardrobe had plenty of space to store our items. The living area felt larger than it looked in the pictures. Communication: was easy, our questions were answered quickly and thoroughly. The shower head holder was broken when we arrived and Katerina came quickly to look at it. We found a way to temporarily fix it and told her not to worry about it during our stay. We enjoyed our time in the apartment and would not hesitate to stay again or for a longer time period.
Nothing for us but if our time was during a rainy time period, it would be nice to have a drying rack available. We used the line in the garden.

Verified reviewVery clean, light, modern and spacious. Good value for money. Helpful and attentive owner. Off-street parking. Pleasant suburb. Possible to walk downhill to main sights in Karlovy Vary in under 15 mins. Coming back is uphill, but there are buses from the city centre, and even on an Easter weekend we were able to drive and park near the centre.

Verified reviewClose proximity to the city center and a forest walk, free parking available on the neighboring street. Comfy bed and pillows. Washing machine and detergent were available on request. The host was lovely and very helpful.
Little things like some complimentary coffee, tea, sugar and cooking oil would make a huge difference for people like us traveling from one location to another and not carrying these staple products with us. Nonstick frying pans would be much better rather than stainless steel.
