How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewApartment #3 was, clean, large, and more than adequate for 2 people, with 2 bedrooms, a small kitchen with everything needed to make your own meals, a comfortable living area with a smart TV with Netflix and Prime TV, a comfy couch, and a table for 4. The windows in the living room and larger bedroom overlook the river. Reichsburg Castle is directly across the river on the hilltop! The river views are amazing both day and night! The Balcony/patio off the living area also had a table for 4 and was perfect for warm nights to sip wine and gaze at the river and Reichsburg Castle which is enchantingly illuminated at night! There was even an electric BBQ grill on the patio, and an awning for sunny days. The bathroom was clean, newly tiled, and the shower was large. Clean linen and towels were provided. The location is relatively quiet compared with areas closer to and right in Cochem. It was only a 15 minute walk to/from Cochem and 20 from the train station. There was a 'honor system' drinks station right outside the door to our room which had cold water, beer and wine. The prices were also reasonable.
The TV in the bigger bedroom was not working for some reason (even after checking the batteries in the remote control). The drinks station in the hall was out of apfelschorle. The door between the two bedrooms has a glass window in it so when the light is turned on in the either bedroom it shines light in the other. The stairs in the hall creaked loudly when people came to the drinks station or went up to the next floor.

Verified reviewVery well located place, and super clean. The host is very communicative and everything is fine.
Nothing - although I would have liked some coffee included (especially if there were two coffee machines)

Verified reviewLocation is good. 10 min walk from the city centre. Nice apartment. Good for 4 people. 2 bedrooms.
Other guest were loud.. the building is noisy. You can hear others pretty good.
We can help with other guests, if you would have said something within your stay and not after.

Verified reviewThe location was good. I liked the evening view from outside the apartment. The apartment was good enough for 4 people and the best part was that it had 2 washrooms.
The living room is a bit small but that doesnt matter for couple of days stay.

Verified reviewThe location was great, the room was clean, and the owner communicated proactively to make sure everything was in order. Check-out was smooth and hassle-free.
The placement of the toilet was a bit awkward, as the sink was partially in the way. And although this is a minor detail, the directions to the room weren’t entirely clear — a small map or visual guide could be helpful.
That's a 1 of 1 review, never told us anyone that the space from Toilet to sink is not big enough. There is literally a description - right of the House through the garden, up the steel stairs -> right door. Next time you should read the Check in instructions and don't run 2-3 Times up and down the hole House before reading.

Verified reviewEasy checkin, comfortable room.
No complaints other than the location is a bit far away from the main parts of town. It’s no longer than a 10 minute walk so not a issue for most people

Verified reviewLigging is prima, even de brug over en je bent in centrum
Kamer was erg klein. Slecht bed. En de handdoeken van de douche stonken.
IT'S THE ROOM YOU BOOKED??? The room have a box spring bed and there are 6 (SIX) photos of the room in our booking.com ad. And to clarify that: this guest didn't read a single word of our messages or looked at a single picture. As example: You wrote about the great location of our house and give as 5/10 for that, thank you for that shitty review or as you wrote yesterday around 21 p.m. "everything is fine, thanks" 🤦

Verified reviewThat I could contact the host about anything. On Whatsapp or via the Booking app. He friendly replied back and that felt great for me. I'm definitely wanna come back to Cochem and have a stay again coming summer! You got a permanent guest😁
Well hard to tell. Just one thing was a really struggle for me. When I came back from a day in Trier or around the Moselle/Rhine area, it was already dark😅 And the lights in stairwell were not working🤔 Thank god the flashlight of my phone! But still, if you got stuff on your neck or in your hands, it was a struggle.
No, the lights are working well inside the house. You need to push the light switch to activate it.

Verified reviewLocation was good. Rooms were good .
Tea bag pouches were of year 2022.But on our request they provided and We could use on 2nd day. The towels were provided for one day(one towel and one napkin) .When We requested the reply was a bid rude. They suggested us to go for hotel nex time .We simply asked towels for 2nd day The heating was not proper on first day.It was ok on second day We could have been told the bus number to reach from the cetre point .But We managed on our own .
To provide context in this situation: - tea production date is 2022, not best before date - that's not true, you send us a message like "you forget our new towels" and we suggested a Hotel because you want free Coffee, free Tea, free sugar, free Milk, ... FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE and you stayed two nights and got 6 towels - how many should we give you? - you simply didn't turn on the heater - there is simply no bus line? from the point you told us you walk 600m to the house and we send you the next bus stop (that's 350m away)???
