Great quirky hotel, as listed in 'Man from Seat 61' UK site. We paid extra for Teain Room at the front of the hotel.Good view of yard where trains were getting coal fuel before setting off on their journey. Model Train around dining room to deliver drinks was cute. German food on menu with English translations. Station is a short walk and tickets to other sites available there. We did the Broken trip, but could have done others if there was more time.

Position of hotel close to railway was great, also close to town centre. Lots of free parking around the hotel, also having drinks served by a model railway is great for a steam railway themed hotel. Room was good and restaurant evening meals good.

Nothing really, the hotel was ideal for the reason for my trip.

The location of the hotel is ideal. The centre of town is a five minute walk away and even less for the main line railway and the smallspurbahn stations. The room we had was rather small, but clean and functual, it had a balcony which was a bonus, even though it overlooked the car park and the ensuite facilities were of a good size. The buffet breakfast was of a good standard with plenty on offer, although at times it got a little crowded. The restaurant served a varied menu and possibly the main attraction being the delivery of liquid refreshment by a toy train.

At times it did appear there wasn't quite enough staff to cope with the large groups that were staying at the same time, but this seems to be a common issue everywhere at many restaurants now. Unfortunately we did experience some noise from emergency vehicles driving past (as the hotel is adjacent a main road) and also what sounded like a warning siren at night, but (in our opinion) the great location and views of the railway made up for this.

Excellent location overlooking the Wernigerode station for the Harz railway, a great hotel for railway enthusiasts. Breakfast and the restaurant food for dinner was also pretty good (with quite sizeable portions!) Really loved the little model train that brought around the drinks. Room was very clean, bathroom was quite big and some of the staff team are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is only a very short walk to the centre of town and perfect for jumping onto the railway network.

Huge beroom with a view of parring steam trains, Large buffet breakfast - Dinning room also has view of steam etc trains across the road. REasonably priced food and drink. Great local beer

The room was looking a little dated.

The location of this hotel in very convenient for travelling on the HSB Railway system, and for walking to the Old Town. I was able to secure a quiet room which was comfortable, included a fridge and wasperfectly adequate for my needs. The breakfast and dinners served at the hotel were extremely good and the service was friendly and quick.

Great location and loved the train theme that ran throughout the hotel. The train that delivered our drinks to the table was fun. Sadly it doesn’t serve all the tables. We had an interesting view of the coal yard from our bedroom window where the steam engines were serviced. Fridge in the room. Easy walk into the lovely town.

We chose this property to be close to the Harz Mountain Steam Train Depot, and it did not disappoint us. Our chosen railroad theme room had an excellent view of the steam train rail yard, so that we were able to watch the engines come and go. It was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. We especially liked having dinner in the restaurant and having a beer delivered by a model train.

TV didn't have a signal, but we didn't raise this during our stay as to busy travelling around and sightseeing.

It was stated to have soundproofing, this is not the case. The room window was next to a footpath and road that leads to the Altstadt, this caused a fair amount of external noise. Internal noise wasn't much better as could hear so much in neighbouring rooms and in the hallway. Occasional smell in the room which may be drainage. Being a solo traveller I had to ask to order a drink to a table to be delivered by the model train. Otherwise I was always sat away from the window and the model train. Also not told about city tax at the start of my stay.

The train theme was a nice touch, the room layout and friendly staff. Location as is close to mainline and HSB station and Altstadt. Breakfast options were good and dinners were nice. Liked being able to see HSB trains from the breakfast room.

Only slight downside was I booked the wrong dates and they have no policy to arrange switching. This was my own fault though.

Great location for train spotting, included travel pass for surrounding area, very quiet area, friendly staff and good service.
