How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores weβve received and divide that total by the number of review scores weβve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate βsubscoresβ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so thereβs no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didnβt actually stay there. To edit a review youβve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we wonβt display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once theyβre 36 months old β or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether itβs just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when weβve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please donβt include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.comβs services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt was not too far away from the S-Bahn station. The staff was really friendly and the room was nice and clean.
The area was missing some additional breakfast possibilities, but other than that, the room was quite comfortable for 3 people. And we were able to sleep without much issue.

Verified reviewThe location was in walking distance from the city center and the room was nice, everything I needed: A comfortable bed, a functional bathroom, a desk, a fridge, and a wardrobe.
The hotel is located at a busy street crossing. And despite having a "quiet" room, the loud noise made by the cars was a constant background, when the window was open. The reception is not constantly occupied, not even during the times, when someone is officially there. There are no toilets accessible from the reception area, I was asked to go to the restaurant next door, since I had to wait for 15 minutes for the receptionist to arrive. Considering the walk to the train station and that the train stopping in Langenfeld does not have toilets, this is an inconvenient combination. Considering the service level, the single room, the noise and that Langenfeld itself is no prime tourist location, 135β¬ per night for a single room, not including breakfast is too expensive. Would I book here again, probably not, if I can avoid it.

Verified reviewI have stayed here several times while visiting friends in Langenfeld. The hotel is very comfortable, clean and well situated. The breakfast is good and the scrambled eggs that are made to order are excellent. The manager gave us a better room with a balcony, and also a kettle for tea/coffee. We were also able to use the underground car park for our rental car.

Verified reviewBest part was that there were a couple of English language stations on the TV which is very rare in Germany. Room was a good size. There was nothing else to like here.
My room was over a Chinese takeaway so the room, sheets & curtains stank of this. Therefore could not open the windows on that side of the room unless I wanted to smell that way. Although I had asked for a quiet room when booking & when advising on check in time, I was laughed at by the hotel manager. My colleagues got quiet rooms at rear of hotel (One who hadn't requested it). The hotel is at a busy intersection that was very very close to the road. The sheets weren't cotton so when there is no air conditioning and you cannot open windows you don't sleep due to perspiration & itching. In the three nights I stayed there I got a total of 7 hours sleep & when you are in heavy all day meetings this doesn't help. The leatherette headboard on my bed was pitted and ripped so must have harboured bacteria from other patrons. The shower had no spread of water & was akin to standing under a tap. There are no hangers in the rooms for you to hang trousers or a jacket, only blouse hangers available. There is no foyer in this hotel & reception is a cubby hole that does not open to its stated times. There is a Booking.com sign as you enter that states an 8.6 rating. I would give this place a "0.1". There was a trade show in Dusseldorf which drove us (6 rooms) to this hotel from our usual one and was way over priced. None of us or anyone else from our company will visit this place again!
Dear Mr David, I am sorry that you are so disappointed with your stay at our hotel. I don't think anyone has ever given our hotel and service such a bad rating. Fortunately, there are many guests who would disagree with your description of the hotel, seeing the positives and giving the hotel significantly better reviews. As for a quiet room, you asked for a quiet room on booking.com but on the day you should already come to the hotel. Since there were two trade fairs taking place at that time, one in DΓΌsseldorf and one in Cologne, the hotel was booked to the last room and I had no opportunity to change rooms. If there is still a free and quiet room, I would be happy to make it available to you. As for the Chinese restaurant and the smell, sorry I couldn't help you there, as it's not my fault there is a Chinese restaurant in the building. I must also point out that all bedding in our hotel are cotton, although you claim that this is not the case. But I can see that you just expected a lot more than this small hotel can offer. I wish you all the best in your future life and work. BR Hotel am Berliner Platz

Verified reviewThe location is great, just a stone's throw from the shopping area. I stayed over a weekend, the hotel was very quiet but in a nice way. The room was very clean and comfortable, the bathroom was also fairly new and sparkling clean. The breakfast was fair value for EUR 10, freshly cooked eggs, a selection of meats and cheeses, preserves and spreads for bread. There were sufficient bread rolls and wholemeal bread, coffee and tea.
The opportunity to make coffee or tea in the room would make the stay much more comfortable. A carafe of water is provided, but I love my tea in the morning! The bed was too soft for my liking, but that's a personal issue. The shower does not have a curtain, which means that water inevitable lands on the floor tiles or the floor mat. The light in the room was not bright enough to be able to apply my make-up in the mirror and the mirror in the bathroom, although well lit, was just too far away me to really see what I was doing (I'm short-sighted). This is an issue in most hotel rooms, unfortunately.
