Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesFor such an expensive hotel you’d expect a comfortable mattress. Was very hard. Sheets not soft. And pillows very lumpy.

IsraelStaff were a bit hit-or-miss - not everyone was as helpful or welcoming. Room cleanliness could be better, and housekeeping didn’t collect or replace dirty plates or cutlery. The spa is missing some facilities (wet sauna, sitz baths) and really should have both an indoor and an outdoor jacuzzi. The This expensive hotel feels like it has great potential, but it’s not fully realized.
The location is absolutely prime, right by the castles and the lake. We really loved the room - comfortable and beautifully done. Breakfast was excellent. The spa is nice and relaxing, with good potential and convenient opening hours overall.

We were lucky to stay in a room where we could see both Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. Welcome message and fruits in the room were also nice.

LithuaniaThe price is a bit high, but the place is unique and it can't be cheap.
The view from the room window was great - you can see the mountains. The view from the hotel restaurant windows is very beautiful: you can see both castles. The hotel terrace overlooks lake Alpsee. Large, convenient but paid parking with cards. Spacious, large room with all amenities, comfortable bed, very good terrace for two people. Fast internet, very tasty breakfast, there were two restaurants: luxurious and traditional, simpler with a very wide menu. It was very convenient to get to both castles and to the Marienbridge right from the hotel: by bike, on foot, by bus, with horses and a carriage.

United StatesThe quiet areas outside were not quiet.
Amazing location with beautiful facilities. We stayed in a newer area and the rooms were spacious and modern. We used the spa areas as well which was nice and relaxing after the day out. We also took part of the half board, breakfast was a wide variety for the whole family. Dinner had great service however some of the courses were a bit challenging for our teenagers, while they still enjoyed how unique the courses were and well done!

United Kingdom1. The hotel let's itself down by the dinner options. This was our anniversary so was hoping for a romantic dinner but it only offered a set a la carte menu (1 meat and 1 vegetarian). 50 euros per person for 3 courses. There was no choice, only 1 starter, 1 main, 1 dessert. So if you don't like the set menu then the only other option you have is the bar menu which was a choice of 2 salads or 2 burgers which are very over priced (63 euros for 2 burgers and 2 drinks). Offering a menu with different choices would have been so much better. If they improve the dinner options, we would give the hotel top ratings. 2. Opening times of the pool area - the pool closes at 8pm. Would have been great if they close at 10pm. We felt like we were trying to fit a lot in before things closed. The village is a ghost town after 8pm so actually having time in the evening after dinner to use the pool would have been a lovely end to the day. 3. The bathroom has a strange window with a blind the looks into the room. Since you don't get a view of the lake from the bathroom I didn't understand why it was there. Technically it means that the person you are in the room with could open the blind and look in on you when you are using the bathroom. Found it a bit odd as it lacked privacy. 5. They do not offer double mattresses in the hotel. They push single mattresses together and add a topper and sheet to close them together. Whilst I don't like this, the room staff had managed to make this comfortable and didn't stop us from enjoying couples 'activities' 😉 6. Parking cost - parking is very convenient and across the road. But I agree with many other reviews that say the 14 euros should be included in the price. 7. Because we were up early and had a full day seeing the area, and also because there is nothing to do in the village or the hotel after 8.
We had 1 week in Munich and staying here was the last stop of our trip and it was the cherry on the cake. 1. The views from the hotel room (Apenrose) and spa area were beautiful. We would recommend a view of the lake rather than a view of the castle as it's busier on that side of the hotel. The lake side is nicer, more peaceful and romantic. The lake is a 5 minute walk away so lovely for an evening stroll. 2. The room was a good size and included a terrace. If the weather had been better we would have loved to enjoy a drink on our sunloungers to watch the sunset. The bed and pillows were very soft and comfortable. 3. The bathroom and shower were good. The previous hotels we had stayed in did not have powerful showers, this one had the best shower and nice sized bath tub - providing bath salts was a lovely touch. 4. The pool area was great, water was a good temperature and the sauna/wellness area looked right out on the lake which was a lovely surprise. 5. The friendliness of the staff was really nice and they helped us get tickets for the castle tour in advance before our stay which was very helpful. It was also our anniversary so they helped me make sure we had a room that suited our needs to make our stay special. We left wishing we had another night there. 6. Location - the hotel is at the bottom of the hill from the castle. We took a 15 min horse carriage ride up the hill (you then have a 5-10min walk up the rest of the hill) and then walked back down the hill (25 min). There is not a lot in this village, mainly some tourist shops and places to eat. So the hotel is in the middle of that with the best views of the lake. 7. Breakfast was lovely. Hot food such as bacon, eggs, omelette, pancakes and cold contenintal choices and fruits. Also had champagne on ice ready which was a good touch. Lovely view of the castle from the dining area. We really loved this hotel. We definitely see ourselves going back and next time making it a spa weekend.

SingaporeThe room service menu items are very limited, not much choices for kids, should add some more items such as pizza and pasta etc. There is no laundry service, the hotel should provide laundry service or maybe provide a washing and drying machine somewhere for guests to self use.
A great location to go to Neuschwanstein and surrounding areas. The hotel is right next to Alpsee Lake, like 2 mins walk, you can swim in the lake, the view is very beautiful. The hotel also has a very nice and warm indoor swimming pool, perfect for family with kids to swim and play.
