How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).

We were offered an upgraded room for free which was nice. The beds are super comfortable. The AC gave us trouble and didn't work in the middle of the night. It felt like quite an outdated system. We only stayed one night so we didn't have chance to get this fixed.

The cleaning staff knocked at my door three times in the morning although I told them I didn’t want to be disturbed before twelve. It was a different staff member each time. Apparently no communication between them.
The room was spacious, comfortable, clean and inviting. The staff at the front desk were pleasant, helpful and accommodating.

Perhaps half day rates for the car parking would be nice as we were in transit for a few hours but had to pay full day price for the car park

Ac is not working properly Rain shower broken in the shower No sleepers and tooth kit ( only by request I assume ) Garbage removal mashine came at 5 am being extremely noisy ( but it’s not property issue )
Receptionists was super supportive and nice . Great welcome . Location is amazing. No homeless around even it’s close to banhoff. Seems safe and calm . Nice coffee shops close by . 200 m from lake .

We arrived late and were very hungry so ate in the restaurant which was terrible. Spaghetti was over cooked and soggy and tasteless. Something so simple was so awful.

In the room: Very loud air conditioner. Wallpaper was coming off giving a bad overall impression. Hotel: Breakfast was okay, but trays were half empty and not being filled up.

Within 10 minutes of booking we received an email threatening to cancel the booking if we did not pay in full within 48 hours. It made it seem like the hotel was run by gangsters as the language was quite aggressive. My bank refused to pay using the link they sent for security reasons and they refused to cancel the booking without 100% penalty. They need to change their attitude.
Big room and has a kettle and fridge. It's well pressented. We slept well.

Cost of laundry was very expensive.
Barcelo is well located to the train station, the lake and the old part of town. The room was a good size with an excellent layout, shower and bed. Being a Spanish chain it was good to be able to practice my Espanol.

It is very dark on the floors corridors. The light switches on automatically, but with some delay. It causes uncomfortable feelings and desoriantation.
Special thanks to Maria from reception for the good advises and helping with laundry service. The hotel is stylish, with a great location. Clean and comfortable, worth the value.

My experience at Barceló Hamburg was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were not only highly professional but also genuinely kind and polite, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout my stay. The service was flawless—attentive, efficient, and always with a smile. The location is simply perfect: central, well-connected, and ideal for exploring the city on foot. The room itself was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, with modern amenities that made my stay feel relaxing and convenient. On request, I was provided with a complimentary water boiler, which was a lovely touch. If I may suggest one small improvement: offering a complimentary bottle of water in each room upon arrival would be appreciated and align with the otherwise impeccable standards of the hotel.

We already knew that the toilet / shower area is open-type, but we thought that this could work for couples staying in the room but for friends, its not. We took turn staying in the shower area which caused delays to our schedule.
Very good location, 5 minutes walk from Hamburg Central train station and city center. Lots of shops within the area, restaurants and mall. Breakfast is very good.
