How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Very clean modern apartment in a gorgeous area close to the Black Forrest. Gengenbach Town centre a 4 min walk, lots of places to eat or drink.everyone very helpful.

Beautiful smart apartment with some Christmas decorations to make it festive. 5-10 minute straight walk to the town centre. Quiet at night. Hosts Sylvia and Edgar friendly.

the apartment was south facing and warmed up due to the sun, and the apartment was on the 3rd floor with only stairwell access
the location was excellent and allowed us to walk to the old city. We had access to the building's laundry facility and the staff were very helpful in this regard.

I will suggest one minor thing: just put a small sign in front of the build saying so that it will be easy to find for guests. Everything else is perfect and this is a wonderful place to stay!
Very well maintained apartment with friendly staff. Great location, 5 min walk to old town and 10 mins to train station. Very comfortable room with all modern amenities. Very friendly and responsive hosts who replied each and every email with details and tried to help going out of their way

Great location, hosts polite and responsive to messages. Area was beautiful and a great base for exploring. Public transport from the door. We were travelling as a family of two adults and two teenagers (18 & 15) and had two apartments, one with terrace and one without, this allowed us plenty space.

Minimal lounge furniture for a 2 bed apartment but we knew this from the photos and description
Easy check in. Clean and fresh. Owner very helpful. Good tip for dinner. Excellent location for walks into town.

The only thing is there is no elevator and we have luggage. But we managed and still enjoyed our stay.
Clean, new and homey. Good location, near restaurants. Quiet place.

Our bedroom faced the road, which is a bit noisy even at night if you wanna open the windows. Insulation is great though, so you can also just choose to leave the window closed and you won't hear a thing.
We stayed in Gengenbach with three families with a total of 6 adults (3 apartments) and 7 kids under 5. The apartments had everything we needed to cook for the entire bunch and even eat together in one apartment (we may have redistributed the dishes and silverware a little). All apartments were lovingly decorated and equipped with everything you'll need for a vacation stay. They even had toys for our little ones, which was highly appreciated. The decorations were all placed in a way that we could remove them from the reach of our kids quickly. We weren't lucky with the weather so we did not get to explore the area much, but the town is very sweet, the museum is great for kids and there is a large playground in walking distance. And lastly the hosts are wonderful warm people! They were always on hand to help with any requests we had (more towels, some cleaning stuff, even some cooking ingredients) and beyond patient with the disturbance we inevitably caused traveling with basically a small daycare.

Location is very good - just a few minutes walk to Old City, quiet and safe. Free parking at property was an asset. Nice and clean apartment with good new amenities.
