How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was very convenient—close to the tram and supermarket, and within walking distance to the city center. It is situated in a quiet area, which was a big plus. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was also good.
The furniture and facilities are in need of renovation.

Verified reviewThe hotel is close to city center. The room is well equipped, clean, air conditioned and with a small fridge. Outstanding online help and communication.
The limited usage of the elevator. The 3 cms gap between the floor and the roomdoor. Thanks to this vacuum cleaning in other rooms, children running and shouting in the corridor were like noises in your room. Only drapery and shade on the window so if you don't want the neighbours on opposite balkonies by a 15m distance to watch you while changing clothes, you must make dark and turn on the light. A bit poorer breakfast selection, I missed the classic fried eggs

Verified reviewIt was an okay stay, which is what we were looking for. Not a fancy hotel/apartments but the location is central, the beds were clean & comfortable. The parking was a reasonable price. The staff was friendly.
Dirty carpets in room & stairways. Thin walls. Entrance hallway could look more welcoming.

Verified reviewThere is a balcony in the room that made the stay better. Check in/ check out was fast. Good staff. We had a fan in the room and it was good since it was hot.
The facility is old. Not clean at all. Nothing in the room. Not comfortable. Very small bathroom. The room wasn’t cleaned well from the previous guests. I believe that we didnt get good service for the money

Verified reviewNot far from the U tube. Staff very helpful and pleasant. We had an air-conditioner, not all rooms do! We were on the 4th floor and it was exceptionally quiet. They left drinks including beer in the fridge for us. We were referred to a very good German restaurant for dinner. Also given important advice for arrival at the train station in Stuutgart.
The bathroom was tiny. My husband hit his head on the low beam 3 times.

Verified reviewRoom was spacious for 3 and beds were very comfortable. There is no kettle in the room but there was a mini fridge. Location was great, within 10 mins of the central station and 5 mins away from the market area. Less than 3 mins walk down to a well stocked supermarket (Edeka).
In summer, it was quite warm at night and there was only one standing fan. We tried opening the windows for ventilation but it was quite dusty and not recently cleaned.

Verified reviewCity Hotel is an example of ' not to judge a book by its cover'. It is old & uninviting on the outside. The staired carpets to the rooms are stained. BUT the room was very comfortable and we were very happy staying there. It is great value because the breakfast was plentiful & you could eat inside or out on a terrace. We like a cup of tea at night so the staff were very happy to give me a kettle - or 'water cooker" as they called it. We were very grateful the hotel had air con. Some we stayed at didn't but it was very hot so was excellent to have it here.
We had a car & my husband found the car parking space very tight & not easy to reverse etc. We were on the 4th floor & the elevator didnt go up that far so carrying luggage up stairs was a negative but overall, though we were happy with our stay & would recommend the hotel to others.

Verified reviewOn our arrival the receptionist was very friendly, We had changed our booking from one night to two nights a few days previously and there system had us checking out on Friday and not Thursday , she got it all sorted in a few minutes. The main city is a short walk away and a tram/U Bahn is at the bottom of the street. There is no A/C in the rooms but there was a really good fan that ran silently. Breakfast was good.
We booked parking, which was secure at the rear or the hotel. It was a little tight but manageable.

Verified reviewClean hotel, very centrally located in a quiet neighborhood. It is good value for money, would stay again ... In winter. Staff was very supporting and offered sheets to replace blankets.
Rooms are basic and no airco. During a heatwave my room was unbearably hot, with only a fan to support cooling. Given that it was located on the ground floor blinds and windows had to be closed at almost all times, which made life challenging.
