How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe views from the balcony were amazing. We stayed on the 7th floor and it was quiet. The bathroom was fantastic. The breakfast had something for everyone.
The pillows on the bed were flat. The price of drinks at the bar were very expensive. 15 euros for a shot of whiskey!!

Verified reviewBrilliant hotel, very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Bedroom and bathroom very big with large bath. Great location. Really happy with our stay here and would recommend. Travelled with baby, cot was a great size, clean and comfortable, also got given a kettle for our room when we asked for one for our babys bottles. Was a bit concerned about the air-con after reading reviews but we stayed when it was very warm weather up to 29 degrees and we had no issues at all with the temperature of our room, it was perfect for us and our baby who slept well every night.
Only negative thing about this hotel is the pillows, they are flat, need replacing.

Toilet flush in the room wasn’t filling very quickly and it was not working very well, which caused the leakage and non-filling of the flush tank. It was very uncomfortable. Toilet at the entrance was very smelly as well.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent - just steps away from the U-Bahn. The staff were absolutely fantastic! We had requested a baby cot in advance, and it was already set up in our room when we arrived, complete with the cutest bedding that our little girl adored. We originally booked a deluxe room, but when a minor technical issue occurred, the hotel staff responded immediately. Since the issue couldn’t be resolved, they upgraded us to a more spacious junior suite at no extra cost. Their professionalism and kindness were truly impressive, and every member of the team was warm and welcoming. Breakfast was also a highlight: a wide variety of options and something new to try each morning. I wholeheartedly recommend COSMO Hotel - if we return to Berlin, we’ll definitely be staying here again.

The Italian guy at front desk (sorry forgot your name) was fabulous. Helped us with the iron and very welcoming. Room was so spacious, air con was good! Bathrobes provided. Very soft bed, not my favourite but it did fine for one night. If I am back in Berlin definitely staying in Cosmo

Verified reviewThe room was comfortable and the location was great. The nearest U-Bahn station was just across the road. The breakfast had good options. Coffee and eggs made to order.
The wifi quality was very poor, and we had to use our own data during our stay as the connection continuously dropped out and was extremely slow when it did connect. It would have been better to have individual aircon in the room but the centrally controlled system worked fine during our stay.

Verified reviewThis hotel was in a good location for us to explore Berlin. The staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfast here was excellent, very substantial to start the day.
The air-conditioning in the room was poor, seemed to be broken, we were told it was working - but its an ineffective system. Way too hot in summer! Also, a bedside light was broken and the bathroom was mouldy and smelly. We complained and were offered a new room - but as we had a short stay to explore Berlin, we couldn't fit in time to pack up and move rooms. We were given free drinks as an apology.

The pillows were very soft and not comfortable, another firmer pillow could be left in the room. We missed having a kettle available for making tea and coffee.
