The service was exceptional The spa area was well equipped with wonderful views. Our lakeview room was spacious, clean and lovely to sit on the balcony.

The room was quite hot, and the fan didn't work so great. We had to shut the windows in the evenings for mosquitoes, which meant limited airflow.

The return walk from town is very steep uphill.

Tegernsee is beautiful and the hotel's buildings and rooms are nice. Breakfast was very good. Spa was nice enough. The cleaning standards were very good.

The hotel caters predominantly for german people and we felt like we have been tolerated, but not particularly welcome. Given its 5-star rating and the price we paid, my husband and I expected a more welcoming experience and a higher level of service. Upon arrival, we were assigned a room that was smaller and less expensive than the two identical rooms I had booked. While I understand that mistakes can happen, the way this issue was handled was concerning. The reception staff seemed annoyed when I pointed out the discrepancy. After receiving the correct room keys, we were not given directions to the room, nor were we escorted there, which I found unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. Furthermore, when we located the room, it was not yet ready. Additionally, we were invited to the reception for complimentary welcome drinks, but upon arriving, we were directed to the restaurant and charged for our beverages. The lunch and Dinner menue was very limited and the same every meal. There were not any TV channels other than german. Overall, our stay was disappointing, and we felt we did not receive adequate value for our money.

Room was far too warm, no air con or airflow.

The breakfast and the spa was good, but they lock me in the outdoor pool and a lot of a problems.

The building where we were staying was always completely dark (looking abandoned) and without any staff. There was also no signage for the rooms, only a sign for the spa. (I saw other guests who were also lost). As if that wasn't enough, I went into the outdoor pool area at 8:55 p.m. just to look at the view and take some photos. When I decided to leave at 9:05 p.m., I realized that I had been locked out and all the doors were locked, leaving me without communication and locked out (luckily my cell phone signal came back on and I was able to call the hotel to let them know and they opened the door for me). After that, I went to the restaurant (which would still be open for a few hours), but I was told not to even try because the hotel was hosting a wedding and wouldn't be able to receive guests. Even so, I decided to go down, saw several tables outside the wedding being served and was told that the dishes would take more than an hour to arrive, because they were prioritizing the wedding. In the end, I was served. To make matters worse, I arrived in the room and there was no air conditioning, it was incredibly hot, I left the window open and I still died of the heat.

Spa was really lovely and the bedding was premium!

The walk back from the town is a little steep but shouldn’t put anybody off if you’re able-bodied.

The hotel is just perfect. It was full the weekend we were there but it didn’t feel busy at all because of the layout of the hotel. The spa was incredible with amazing views over the lake. The heated outdoor pool was a joy as were all the saunas. The staff were excellent. From reception to the bar and the restaurant they could not have done more for us. They even found a conference room me to work and take calls from on the Friday. Tegernsee is one of my favourite places anyway but Das Tegernsee just made it even more special. We will return 100%!
