Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The area around the hotel doesn’t feel very safe, especially at night. There was no soap or shampoo in the shower. No fridge in the room. The floor-standing air conditioner/fan was very noisy.
Very close to the Central Station, which is convenient for travel. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Beds were comfortable and ensured a good night’s sleep.

No air conditioning, other than some appliance they got from a department store and no tea or coffee making facilities. On questioning this omission, staff said this point was noted on the website listing, however, nothing mentions this on their website, which means Holiday Inn -The Niu Hotel group don't provide this facility, but three other Holiday Inns in Hamberg do, go figure.
Staff were very accommodating in granting our request for a quite room and the room was very roomy.

It would make a difference for us to be able to make tea & coffee in our room.
Close to railway in an interesting area of the city close enough to walk to many places. Hotel was clean & efficient.

While the niu remains conveniently located to transportation and St Georgi nightlife, homelessness and drug activity has increased significantly in the vicinity of the Hauptbahnhof since my last stay, requiring an increased police presence, especially at night.
Clean and fresh design, recently rebranded and remodeled, accommodating and courteous staff, nice breakfast.

They wouldn't allow me extend my stay for 1 night, even though rooms available. Reception staff always put out if asked anything.
Good location, good breakfast. Have a good system to save room cleaning (drinks voucher if you opt out) sadly I got neither. No bin empty or voucher 😔

No AC in the room so it did get a little stuffy at night but not dripping in sweat which is fine. Another minus for leaving the window open was how noisy it got on the streets, it did make it hard to sleep. Not for light sleepers unless you have ear bugs.
Very neat and tidy - breakfast was probably the highlight there was so much to offer.

The shower head attachment needs repair. The inability to make tea or coffee in the room and the location was noisy but that was to be expected.
The bed was very comfy and the breakfast tasty and there were lots of choices. The bathroom was clean and well set up.

Only remark i would make was about the shower in the bathroom, was quite poor performance. And the sink was way to small and low, uncomfartable to use.
Very nice, compact and tidy place. The location is also nice, the area is busy and loud but we slept pretty well there. It was also very clean and well presented. The rooms and the bathrooms are small but you have everything you need and there is enough storage space.

I would have liked to have a fridge in the room.
The hotel is in Central Hamburg and close to Hamburg Central Station. The room was nice and clean with a comfortable single bed. There was a TV, but there was no fridge. The hotel staff were nice and friendly.
