The pillow was a bit too soft for my liking. The outdoor furniture by the pool need an update. I would have loved to have used this, but opted for the beer garden after seeing the state of it.

The room was spacious for a single occupancy, they could have fit a double in there and charged a lot more. The staff were friendly. The location was handy, a direct bus in to the centre of Basel and a good array of local shops which were much cheaper as a result of being in Germany.

Some water in the room would have been nice (without extra charge). Breakfast was a really nice selection but the rosti potatoes were nearly cold and you could taste that they had been frozen before. Everything else was beautiful though

The gym may need a little attention, but it is practical. The breakfast was a little odd, but I'm English, so it may suit other nationals. Very basic continental.

Great ambiance, staff, and evening atmosphere. All close to hand. After a long journey, you don't want to be trudging the corridors.

The room was a bit rundown. Hotel needs a bit of refurbishment to claim it is a design hotel. The room was not spotless clean, which is minimum expected.

The room was very spacious. The bathroom was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Flexible check-in. Charging stations for EV. Very friendly staff.

Breakfast is 15€ which maybe a bit much. Compared to what I paid for the room, that’s why I didn’t eat there. It’s not about quality just price.

They had free parking and it was in a quiet area.

Great hotel, great communication

The restaurant was closed on Sunday and Monday evenings, which I understand, but I would have liked the option to dine at the hotel on Monday night. Also, the pool furniture wasn’t very comfortable, which made lounging by the pool less relaxing than I had hoped.

The breakfast each morning was perfect, with a buffet offering fresh fruit, yogurts, breads, cheeses, sparkling wine, fruit juices, and a variety of teas and coffee. Freshly made eggs were also available to order. I loved that the lobby had a good coffee machine available to use anytime. The pool area was clean and functional, making it a great spot to relax.

The only odd thing about the hotel is the doors don’t automatically lock. You unlock with a key when you enter the room and then have to use the key to lock the door behind you once you’re inside. I’d recommend the proprietor invest in a card system and automatically locking doors. Also, for the breakfast consider doing a big bowl of Bircher muesli instead of the tiny 1/10th of a normal portion jars. I’ve rated the hotel about as high as I can and wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else when I visit Grenzach-Wyhlen, but these are always items that frustrate me.

My annual trip to Grenzach-Wyhlen and I wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else. Clean, convenient and great food and drink. Room was basic, but clean.
