How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Parking was on site. Location was within a block of historical buildings & museum. The breakfast & meals were excellent. WiFi was fast. Staff was efficient, friendly and helpful.

Not far from the station & very close to the centre. Very good breakfast. Nice big room with a comfortable bed.

I was surprised there was no soap at the washbasin in our room. There was shampoo/body wash in the shower, but that was a bit inconvenient if just washing hands. The breakfast buffet area is surprisingly small, and thus felt cramped for so many guests. Because of the layout it was difficult to actually reach some of the (good) selection of fruit, and cheese and meats were positioned so that guests entering or leaving the breakfast area were blocked by others serving themselves. If scrambled eggs and yoghurt are presented in such small bowls, then the staff need to be more attentive to refills, rather than waiting for guests' request (observed both mornings).
Superb location, very quiet room. Excellent beds. Water and fruit provided in the room.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Hotel and food very good. The Noll also hosted the get together after the funeral we came for. Despite the sad occasion we felt at home.

The entrance, it is by side of a same name restaurant, then I became confused and got in restaurant with bags, I felt very embarrassed.
I like the room size, bed, nice reception.

Very friendly and efficient welcome. The location is excellent and the standard of the room in this traditional building is very good. The breakfast was also complete at a reasonable price. We will definitely come back when in Jena!

Nothing: great stay!
Great, quiet and modern room in walking distance from the city center. Huge bed and fantastic breakfast. Parking in the courtyard, where they made sure we had a perfect spot for charging our electric car.

There was very little to not like about ZurNoll. Parking was sometimes difficult but they worked to help us out and make it better.
The breakfast was outstanding. We also ate dinner there one evening which was wonderful. The room was much larger than most European hotels we have stayed in. The value and location were excellent!

None. Everything went very well during my stay. It was a long weekend so lots of guests. Nonetheless, all staff members were attentive and helpful. Some noise on the street but it was still quiet after 11 pm.
Old German charm with a renovated historical building, friendly and helpful staff, perfect location in central Jena, excellent selections for breakfast (the most varieties of fruit in my recent stays in German hotels), WiFi was fast.

The bedroom is more focused on beauty and some places had sharp edges perhaps a bit difficult to manage with a toddler. Okay for bringing bigger kids though :-)))) the bedroom was very spacious, beautifully designed and had a lot of light.
