Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaWe didn’t mind the hotel at all. But people should know. It is a working man’s neighbourhood that appeared run down at first. Streets are not clean. Exterior of building is covered in graffiti. But I felt safe. People in neighbourhood are friendly common folk. Mostly immigrants and very nice.
Price - value for my dollar. Good breakfast. Restaurant in lobby is convenient but limited menu (pizza/pasta) . Clean with renovations. Comfortable beds. Close to S3 subway line which brings you directly into town. Courteous desk and hard working restaurant staff. Served our needs.

HungaryThe difficulty and complexity of parking is shocking. I don't know what experience the staff may have, but they are very strict in listing the rules and not looking through the eyes of the guests. Parking cannot be booked in advance, only once you are there. But then obviously there is not necessarily a space available. So I parked on the street the first night - irregularly, because although parking is free on the street in front of the accommodation, there is no free space. This is pretty much true of most of the surrounding streets, where you don't have to pay, there are almost always full houses. But after a certain distance, you don't really want to leave your car there... After my first night parking on the street, the next morning I kept asking when there would be a free space, and when there finally was one, I took it - unfortunately, it doesn't work either, that they tell you when a parking space is available, you have to be at the reception and wait and wait. This is pretty bad and inconvenient. Check in is pretty quick - if you are the only one there. If there's someone else, you have to wait a long time. You always have to hand in the key and wait through the check-in line, and the same thing when you want to pick up the key. They could not charge my credit card (this was possible at every other places) and booking.com kept sending me notifications that my reservation might be cancelled. I ended up paying on the spot - as had been agreed beforehand... Breakfast is fair, but sometimes they wait to refill the meat and cheese: the portion they put out at a time is enough for about three or four people... then you have to wait for a refill. There is a lady at breakfast who asks for the room number without any greeting and smile - we had the feeling she must have served somewhere in North Korea before, because she kept such an eye on everything (except the refill). However, we got used to the accommodation over time :-)
It was an extremely interesting experience to stay here. The accommodation itself wouldn't be bad as the room and bathroom were correct, same goes for the breakfast (with some comments). The location is not too bad either: there is a bus service that runs frequently (you can also buy a ticket or day ticket online (hvv - ÖPNV Tickets & Fahrinfo), but you can walk into the city centre in about 60-80 minutes. In the evening the place to have breakfast will be a restaurant, and it is not expensive and serves delicious food.

NetherlandsWe booked a family room with kitchenette. There were hardly any utensils provided. No provision for tea/coffee in the room . The lighting in the room was very dim. The kitchen area had absolutely no lights, we had to move the bed side lamp to the kitchen. The front office staff said we should come back in the morning for any requests like cooking utensils and extra portable lamp for the kitchen.
Basic but clean rooms. Staff at the restaurant at breakfast hours were very warm and welcoming. Good breakfast spread.

NorwayThere are constructions around, the parking is almost full everyday so we did not dare to take the car out and had to leave it there during the entire stay. Arrive early if you want to secure a parking lot. Breakfast is simple.
Reasonable price and I was about to secure a parking lot as I arrived early. Transport to the center was also easy even we had to take both a bus (13) and then a train (S3/31).

United KingdomThe room was a little dated and while it was clean, the curtains were stained. The bathroom was small and the shower was very small. The free bottle of water was small and had a lid that had to be opened by the receptionist with a bottle opener.
The afternoon/evening receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were good with delicious rolls and fresh fruit salad. Guests are given the choice of having their room serviced or a free bottle of water.
