How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

We would have liked to try the restaurant on Sunday evening but it was closed.
Our apartment was large and comfortable. It was spotlessly clean. The air conditioning was a godsend on some very hot days. Breakfast was great with several choices.

There is no front desk to just walk in. The owner is always present and available if you call or ring the door bell. However, I frequently see confusion among first time visitors, especially non-German guests.
We have stayed here on numerous occasions, primarily because it is convenient to walk to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and it is very clean and in the facilities are always in great condition.

My only criticism is with regard to eating in the restaurant which has a somewhat limited menu in that it only serves pizza dishes. This includes dessert.
The room was clean. The location was quiet but within walking distance of Landstuhl (which has a very nice ice cream shop).

Great location. Host was great - very flexible and grabbed extra chairs so we could sit outside with our traveling companions. Had a vending machine that contained adult beverages. Rooms were no frills but clean.

I stay at the Pfeffermühle every time I’m in town. I love the ease of check-in and the room set up. Breakfast is fantastic and the host/owner is always very pleasant.

The window shutters were neat, but it has a lot of holes that it does not block the light from the outside to sleep well.
Very nice and clean facility except it does not have a coffee maker or small refrigerator to keep the water or soda cold. The breakfast food varieties were also very good; you have a choice of hot or cold choices.

I could have done with another pillow for the bed and a warmer bedspread. I should have asked the host Manuel, as I'm sure he would have assisted, so my failure. Tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom would be useful.
Herr Scherer, the host is absolutely superb, wonderful hospitality, and provided every assistance. Excellent location for my business meetings, which were a short walk away. Very clean (spotless) accommodation in all areas, and very quiet, no traffic noise. Rooms were comfortable. Parking was available, but not required. I will stay here again for future business meetings in a nearby location. Wi-Fi and ethernet connection in the room were excellent for work. Excellent range of food for breakfast, limited menu for evenings, but very good none the less.

I've used booking because the hotel website is sometimes not available or is not accurate.
This is the perfect location for our visits to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. It is always clean, comfortable and affordable.

Everything was great.
Very close to the U.S. hospital. (Within walking distance). Free parking. Free breakfast. Affordable , clean rooms. Easy check in/check out. The host very welcoming.

I would have liked to have access to a clothes washer.
The room, service, and breakfast were really good. I liked having the little kitchenette in my room with the refrigerator.

I didn't expect a hotel in the country side to have so many customers. Hotel owned restaurant for Flammkuchen is super. Small breakfast but good enough.

While the breakfast was always on time, I would have preferred a bit more variety. It was the exact same items on the hot bar from MON-FRI.
While my room was small, it was very clean and I appreciate the late check-in box that was left for me.

Friendly staff and great accommodation. I had an apartment suite so I was able to avoid eating out every night. Great location right next to LARMC. I could easily walk to the town center and there were plenty of restaurants in the area. Parking on location was always available.
