How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewCharacter. Right in the old town. Great socialising area for families with a reasonably priced bar.
Very expensive for what it is. Location is great for the far end of the old town but not great for public transport to other local sights. As a youth hostel it is very rule based - we got a huge shouting at for our small child being too noisy too late. We were in the wrong but the level of anger was unnecessary!

Verified reviewLots of fun to be in a castle and the breakfast was stellar. Best breakfast ever and came with the room. Everything was well organized and we were able to check in late at night. Shower was great; view from the windows exceptional. Staff was very friendly and easy to ask questions. The parking garage wasn’t too far away and was €12 for 24 hours which was nice. Walking distance to all the old town sites.
There was a heat wave and the rooms were hot and didn’t have any fans. We opened the windows and that helped but still quite stuffy. Usually I don’t believe it would be a problem. It was especially aggravated by the heat wave.

Verified reviewInteresting property as it was once part of the castle. Location was nice and central to the old part of town although does require a walk up the hill each time you return. Booked the family room so 4 beds and private bath. Nice to have the bar/lounge available as well
All comes down the staying at the hotel when it’s summer. Temps hit 30+ when we were there and no reprieve from heat as there is no AC. Having a portable fan would have been handy. It’s a hostel so yes there are a few things you need to do like turn in bedding. But instead of everyone lugging it to the ground floor, why not have a cart next to the elevator on each floor.

Verified reviewThe building was very impressive and room comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The complementary tea and water was great and we enjoyed sitting in the outdoor space. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The hostel communal areas were well maintained and everything was kept clean and tidy.
The room was stiflingly hot during the night and we were not able to ventilate the room adequately. on check out we did notice a different room had a fan but we had not thought to ask for one.
Dear Guest, thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, we can not influence the weather. And unlike a hotel, our hostel does not have air conditioning, which might have made the hot nights a little more pleasant. Reception Team

Verified reviewLocation and building itself. Staff were amazing
Rooms need a fan. No airflow at night and they get very hot. Our windows were open all night but no flow meant air was hot. With window open, we could hear the night life also, they seemed to have a good time until about 4am. (Totally expected for a hostel) Other than that fantastic

Verified reviewPerfect location
Unable to check in earlier. Extremely uncomprehending staff. Zero flexibility. Missed a tour. Rules are rules fine. However, comments that if you don’t like it you can some other place found nothing but rude.
Dear guest, thank you for your feedback. It is unfair to say the staff lacked understanding if you were not able to check into your room before 3 p.m. With up to 90 rooms to clean, the time between check-out of departing guests and check-in of arriving guests is already tight at five hours. Therefore, checking into your room earlier than 3 p.m. is not feasible. Flexibility would disrupt the scheduled cleaning schedule. A note about this can also be found on our BOOKING.COM page. However, the fact that you missed a tour is not due to the reasons mentioned above. We offer luggage lockers, and you can freshen up in the restrooms on the ground floor. Our staff always remains firm but polite in their interactions with guests. Reception Team

Verified reviewThe location is amazing - friends who live nearby were amazed at the setting within the castle. Staff were friendly and helpful and the meals are fantastic. This was our second stay and we've met friendly families both times.
There was a school group our final night. Their teachers did a hero job of staying awake til midnight to keep them in their beds, but the students were still up and running through the corridors from 6.00am - which wasn't great. That wasn't the fault of the hostel though. Everything about our stay was wonderful - although some basic laundry facilities would be nice !

Verified reviewThe location is near the castle where you can take a walk
The room was hot as hell. Too small window and the room is tiny for 4 adult men. You walk out of the shower, no door, straight into someone's bed. Night was so noisy from snorring and coughing I couldn't close my eyes for 1 minute. Oh and the heat was so bad I was soaked in my own sweat. I counted the seconds till the morning and got out of there. Only 1 receptionist spoke English. And you pay 3.5EU fee per night for membership.
Dear Guest, it is a shame you do not have fond memories of your stay. Fortunately, we can't influence the weather, and unlike hotels, youth hostels—where a valid membership in the International Youth Hostel Association is required for an overnight stay—generally do not have air conditioning. As a guest in a shared room, your roommates often have a surprise in store for everyone else, such as snoring. For your next stay, we recommend booking a single room during the colder season. Then you can also be assured that all our receptionists speak English. Sincerely, Reception Team

It was hard to find a table at breakfast due to how many people were there.

Verified reviewThe food was great, and the staff was extremely helpful. We loved the idea of being in a castle, too.
The elevator got too busy because of so many kids playing with it. It would have been nice to have a small shelf or side table, next to the bunk, for phone and glasses.

Verified reviewSuper interesting/quirky place to stay. Helpful staff and super clean
Our room was SO hot. There was no ventilation other than a window that opened a smidge. Also the power sockets were very hard to find in the dorm. Usually expect one per bed at least but we had one singular socket hidden behind a bench for a 6 bunk room! The front desk kindly helped us locate it and provided an extension with multiple sockets but still, not ideal!

Verified reviewThe location was awesome. And the facility itself exceeded our expectations. It. was modern inside and the room was very comfortable. We really enjoyed the breakfast options and drink availabilty. Lastly but most importantly, the staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. I would definitely recommend this location as a great option for families who want a room as close to the caste as you can possibly get.
Everything was wonderful. I can't think of anything that needs to be improved.
