Great breakfast.

Beds we're uncomfortable. Shared toilets.

Free car park just opposite the hotel. Free travel on the bus into Konstanz because of the tourist tax paid. Within reaching distance of the beautiful city of Konstanz (just about!). Bus stop close by for buses into/ out of Konstanz and surrounding area; we were assisted with buses, times and routes etc on checking in. Check-out and check-in times were fine.

We were asked to state an arrival time (eg between 3-4pm). We arrived just 10-15 minutes later than hoped, but the main entrance was closed off with no-one around. We were instructed by a sign to go round to the back, and ring the bell. This back entrance and bell was not easy to find, and when the owner came down the back stairs we had to follow him through the back of the hotel. This was not a very good first impression. In fact, we had to enter/ leave the same back stairs/ entrance way each time we came in and out. It felt very strange. Our rooms were not close together as requested. The rooms felt clean but the toilet floors were not completely clean behind the doors and toilets/ bathrooms felt very 'dated' in style. There were 2 shower-rooms near our room: one shower had a fixed showerhead so it was hard not to have water cascading over the floor. However the showers were warm enough. The hotel felt deserted - we only saw cleaning staff. There was some road noise but this did not bother us too much. We did not eat at the sister establishment so cannot comment on food. We were in Konstanz to visit friends so were not at the hotel during the day. The hotel is not close to Konstanz but the buses run regularly and to the timetables available. This is a traditional 'gasthof' but we missed a main entrance and reception area, and somewhere to sit and enjoy the ambience. For what we paid we were expecting a little bit more than very simple rooms.

The breakfast was excellent. The quality of the food was top. The room was as in the photo and very clean. Good value.

The bed mattress was a bit too soft for me.

The hotel is located very conveniently on the road towards Konstanz, and it provides a parking lot for guests. Although quite small, we were lucky to find a spot always. The room was located away from the main street, so it was quite quiet and we were able to sleep with the windows open.

Room: there is no air conditioning and the room stayed very hot throughout the night; Breakfast's time: we were asked to indicate a time for breakfast before starting our stay, and we had to strictly adhere to it both days. Not a big problem per se, but it felt less relaxed than other hotels we stayed in; Communication: all messages from the hotel, as well as all signs in the hotel and rooms are exclusively in German, so be ready to use Google Translate.

The lady handling the check in was kind, helped me with my stuff so I didnt have to carry it upstairs and offered me delicious cheese spetzle even though I came late and the kitchen was closed. Great place to stay - felt like good old Germany 10 years ago when people behaved politely and nice to each other. Can only recommend!

Clean and big rooms

Toilet and shower shared on hallway, although that was expected but laundry room was outside our door

Clean accommodation, soaps/shampoo available in the shared bathrooms, floormats changed out daily. The bed was super comfortable and we slept well. There were towels available and some room to hang / fold clothes. We got in pretty late due to our flight and there were lockboxes available,we just had to dial into the hotel to reach the receptionist for the lockbox code.

Sometimes the room got pretty hot, we stayed during the month of June and had to leave the windows open. This meant bugs could sometimes get in. Was 10 minutes away by car to the centre of the city.

Maybe it was my room location but I could not get the WiFi to work. I would log in with the password and nothing would work so just had to use data.
