How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe specious rooms. the location/ The cleanness. The view/ The staff at the dining room/
The hotel is very old. In some aspects - it is a charm but in many aspects it is not- no elevator, the smell of the kitchen cooking is everywhere, the facilities in the rooms are very old and not useful. The big bosses are very strict and not very welcoming (in contrary to the young staff in the dining room who are just wonderful). Expensive .

Verified reviewAl staff friendly and accommodating throughout the visit. Rooms clean and comfortable. Very good restaurant with range of beers and wines. The local "traditional" dishes to be highly recommended.
Shame that the restaurant was closed on Sunday evening. A 15 minute walk into town and not ideal in wet conditions. However plenty of parking in Koenigstein. Glad to report that the bar was open during Sunday Evening.

Verified reviewGreat view from the terrace, comfortable soft beds.
Breakfast very average selection and quality of ingridients, room and bathroom design from 30 years ago, it seems the hotel has not been renovated after Germany reunification. Unlike overlooking Konigstein Festung :). a bit suprsing. a bit expensive for a 3* hotel .

Verified reviewEveryone who helped us at the hotel was very friendly, and we felt very comfortable. Our room was wonderful and the view from our window was lovely, and the breakfasts were fantastic. The jaccuzi and sauna were a delight at the end of a long day. We also had dinner one evening at the hotel, which was also good. The location is also perfect! A very short walk to the train, and one day we even began our hike from the hotel. Overall, we had a fantastic time and will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.
We truly have no complaints!

Verified reviewVery nice old hotel in the perfect location. I was not sure where to stay between Pirna or Bad Schandau so this is the perfect location in between the two. Nice view of the river and the fortress. Free car park on site. Nice breakfast. We did not eat dinner here, drinks outside on the terrace were great. We took the salt spa which was not water but very relaxing.
A pool and hot tub were advertised but we could not find them.

Verified reviewThe staff. Excellent, as always. This wasn't my first time at this hotel. Nor the last one. But the first time when I arrived during a huge thunderstorm without electricity etc. No problem for the people at the desk at all. Creative, fun way how to solve the problem. I loved the stay here again. And the superb breakfast, too, of course. Looking forward to stop there next time.

Verified reviewGreat breakfast in a beautiful airy room with a view. Staff was friendly and rooms were nice. Very nice location for the train station and going up to Konigstein either on foot or my car for the day.
The walk up from the train station has a stretch without a side-walk and a narrow street. The road is also steep there. Anyone with any kind of mobility issues should consider this carefully

Verified reviewGood hotel! Large rooms with great views. Good restaurant with view terrace. Good breakfast. Good service who speak English (both reception and in restaurant). Parking 3 eur /day. Good location if you came by car to visit a national park and area and don't plan to walk too much around the hotel itself.
The only minor concern - not a perfect place for evening walking around. not many alternative restaurants in the area. I would say it's quite expensive (as most of the hotels in the area). The rest was perfect.

Verified reviewWe were a couple with one kid staying for 4 nights. The property is close to the train station and is very easy to get to Bad Schandau and take the tram/bus into the park. Large rooms with very comfy beds and a great view of Elbe! Breakfast was very good and view from the dining area was great as well. The Salzgrotto is a nice experience!
Being a bit picky but, rooms are a bit pricey but we did book late and during the holiday weekend, so can't complain too much. Places to eat near the hotel aren't that many with a couple of italian and a greek restaurant. Reservation recommended!
