How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewThe room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was excellent. The cleaning staff did a wonderful job daily during my stay.
The reception people were unwelcoming, and unhelpful. The hotel also doesn’t give you the minimum hospitality needs, like a bottle of water to drink daily. It is basically a very functional hotel but rather unwelcoming.

Verified reviewI recently stayed at the Maritim Hotel Stuttgart. Overall, it’s a nice hotel, but it does feel a bit outdated with an 80’s vibe. That said, the property is well-maintained and comfortable. The location is great—just about a 10-minute walk from the city center, which makes it easy to explore Stuttgart. One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was because of the swimming pool, which was a great feature. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay, and the breakfast was fantastic—lots of choice and great quality. One downside was that during our visit, 3 of the 5 restaurants were closed, and we were really looking forward to checking out the piano bar, which unfortunately was also closed. That was a bit disappointing. If you don’t mind a slightly retro feel, this hotel still offers good value, excellent service, and solid amenities.

I love the hotel. Have been there any time. The only drawback is that It has been several years since the main door of the hotel isn’t working. Every day you have many people not being able to enter. There is no doorbell, there is no camera, there is no way to enter the hotel. They are aware of this problem and have not done anything to fix this in many years. I’m speechless that they deal with daily complaints of guests that way

The lock is used quite often per day and some guests are not really gentle with the lock; that’s the reason why it is sometimes broken. The lock is replaced by us every time and yes, right now it is not working. The manufacturer of the system is looking for a quite longer lasting solution right now. The hotel is quite old. Dramatic check in: we received 2 rooms on a separate wing. From reception you need lift to -2, move 50m and take a new…once we arrive there with 5 luggage pieces we ‘discovered’ we actually were on the main hall with direct access from hall. We move there but our room was not ready (dirty and untidy)…it was also facing the main road when we specifically ask for a quiet room. After claiming 3 times, the girl on the recepction put the blame on us for not contacting them. As she told us “we can not follow what you order through booking” Really really rude with us. Not recommended at all, is by far the worse service received on a 4**** hotel After

I am sorry of the service at the reception was not as attentive and friendly as you and I expect. I have already talked to our reception manager and apologize for the inconveniences. First of all: It is right that it is about 100 meters to walk from the reception through the picture gallery to the rooms in the park wing where one of your booked rooms – the classic room – would have been. You find the information about the location of the rooms in the room description and the map on booking. And yes, if you book two rooms in different room categories the rooms will be in two different buildings. And yes, the classic room in the park would have been on the ground floor; but also there you need a key card to come inside the hotel. But due to our records you have never been to this room because the colleagues gave you a free upgrade for the classic room to a comfort room already before the actual check in so that both rooms would be on the same floor. And yes, one of the rooms was facing the street as we tried to have the rooms close together and there was not note in your booking reservation that you prefer a quiet room but only a note with the preference for a double bed. Good location, everything clean, the bathroom in the room is excellent, in general the room has a distinguished look and is very comfortable, the lobby area is beautiful, the staff are nice and helpful. It’s not luxury-level but it’s close to it (let’s say business class but not first class).
The pillows are not very firm, although by using the two pillows provided per person it’s not too bad - perhaps provide firmer pillows in the closet? In fairness we did not ask reception if it was possible to get another pillow, so maybe they would be able to accommodate this but we don’t know.
