It’s not that we ‘disliked’ it exactly, but they don’t provide dinner at the hotel (only breakfast) and in the afternoon/evening we found reception was unmanned and just a phone number for emergencies.

Fantastic room in the annex, excellent facilities, including guest only parking spaces, a kettle and a fridge in the room. All of the staff were amazingly helpful with advice for day trips and the owners spoke really good English, which was a bonus for us.

The lace curtain in the bathroom was a bit too skimpy. It probably would have been better if it had covered the window completely. The parking area next to the building we stayed in had a bit of bump in the road that caught on a tray underneath our car. It would be useful in future if that part of the parking area was flattened.

The breakfast was very good. The room was comfortable with nice views over the town.

Smokers can smoke right underneath other guests windows. We stayed in the lower building. The cigarette smoke at 6 am was not nice.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Gluten free bread and toast for breakfast was no problem. Bringing the dog was no problem either. Very spacious room. Beautiful view from the terrace and the breakfast room.

Parking was on hotel property and I thought that this should have been made free to guests although this was known when we made the booking I thought it on the expensive side although I know other hotels in the town do not have this facility.

Hotel Location - a short but pleasant walk down to the town and situated in a quite spot right next to paths that lead up to the Schloss and other walks. Our Room had a great view out over the town and valley beyond where we could see the sun setting. Ample parking availble at the hotel. Helpful and pleasant Staff.

When I had breakfast, many products were missing. I thought they would be replenished, but it didn't happen.

The recepcionist was really nice and welcoming, she even wrote a letter to help me with my late check-in in my mother tongue, I really appreciate this gesture and how nice she was during my stay there.

The room that we had was of an odd shape made made it mostly unusable. It was also in the roof, so had no usable window, just a roof window. So, no view out. Didn't like that at all.

Had a good breakfast. Girl that worked desk was very helpful and friendly. Location was close to town, but if a person has any mobility issues it could be a problem because of a steep hill.

The Hotel is very nice, surrounded by the forest, beautiful narrow streets, and a castle above. You can easily get to the city center, or walk in the woods if you like) the breakfast was great and coffee too

All great. One tiny issue - no elevator to second floor so those carrying large bags can find it challenging

Centrally located about 7 minutes walk from the city center and 10 min walking from the nearby castle. Receptionist was hospitable and upgraded us upon arrival. Room was large, the building is vernacular style German architecture. Breakfast was great.

The Schlossberg hotel was wonderful. The front desk was very helpful giving us suggestions on what to do and where to go. The breakfast was delicious and the wait staff was very helpful. I got the impression that not as many people from the US visit Wernigerode but I found the hotel and whole town wonderful. My husband is learning German so we were able to communicate though the staff at the hotel and restaurants had someone who spoke English. We arrived late and happened to be given the attic room - very, very large but it has a very narrow staircase to the third floor, so just take your time going up and down the steps. Super charming room, with plenty of space and great view. Very short walk to the castle from the hotel.

We booked this hotel last minute and was not disappointed. This is a smaller hotel, more of a boutique hotel. A short scenic walk to the center which is worth a stroll. The hotel is located at the walk entrance to the castle and also to the paths of excellent cycle/hiking trails. Room was very clean and beds were superb. Would definitely stay here again. (Breakfast was exceptional).

Really the hotel is great. Location is so wonderful and the views from the room really incredible. The breakfast was very delicious and you can choose what you like. It's very close to centre and Castle Wernigerode is near. We plan to come again in winter.
