Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkThe only negative was that there was no breakfast on New Year’s Day and everything was closed. It would be optimal if there would have been an option.
The room was wonderful and the staff were so kind.

United KingdomNo coffee/tea making facilities in room. There is a place set up outside in the corridor where you can make a cup of tea or coffee but I much prefer it to be available in the room.
Great location, easy walk to the beach and restaurants all very close. Had a room with a balcony and could see the sea!

CanadaThe walls are not very sound proof. We could hear the tenants in the neighbouring rooms quite well.
Such a lovely small hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. Great location, walkable distance from the harbour and old town.

IsraelIn my opinion, back yard view isn't the best way to describe the view. Better go for street or sea view. The view is fantastic if so.
Lovely Hotel, in such a magical town. Beautiful, Classic and Very Local.

United KingdomThe Helstegt Rodspaette and the Wienerschnitzel were over-cooked (too soft and too hard respectively). A small disappointment in an excellent holiday.
The location is first rate, 5 minutes from the station, 5 minutes from the beach and surrounded by small cafes, restaurants and shopping. Gilleleje is a historic fishing town also popular with visitors. Early May was dry and sunny but not warm. The town was pleasantly quiet, the summer season not yet underway. The hotel room was superb and the staff were always friendly and helpful. We don't speak Danish but that was never a problem.

United KingdomThe room did not have any space to hang clothes or drawers to put clothes in. No room for a large suitcase to open. Bathroom had limited shelving space. Our room wasn’t cleaned on our first morning there, I had to request this. The staff weren’t particularly friendly.
The location was good. The hotel was nice, breakfast area and reception. The bathroom towels were good and the bedding was fresh and clean.

BelgiumPrice/quality relationship is not good. Rooms and bathroom area are very small. When asking for a better room, an exorbitant fee is charged. Also, booking.com customers are treated second class and advised to book directly to obtain a better room price.

AustraliaThe room should not have been a room. They claimed it looked out on the back just forgot to say it also looked out on their rubbish bins and where staff sat during breaks. Not to mention the noise of the disposal of bottles. As we were leaving they claimed they catered for 50+ No wonder it felt like a retirement home by the sea.
The breakfast was excellent

FinlandA view to the very messy backyard where the staff used to smoke - you couldn't keep the window open on a hot day. Understandably, there must be rooms for the backyard as well, but you can influence the dirtiness of the backyard yourself . Breakfast quite late on a Saturday and the staff did not make us feel welcome.
Perfect location, restaurants nearby, lovely town, free parking (after 16:00). Close to so lovely Helsingör. Tasty breakfast - even famous Gammel Dansk and Danish pastry available

CanadaNo black out curtains. There is a roll blind but as the door/window opens in there is no way to get fresh air with blind down. There is no air con. We were offered a fan and the explanation that this is a 3 star hotel (not sure what she meant by that). This was the only hotel in Denmark where we were not able to have a darkened room and fresh air at night. Not recommended for that reason.
Great location close to beach and restaurants.
