How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewProximity to the beach. The restaurant food.
Some staff were friendly. Others less so. Also, it would be a welcome addition to have coffee/tea making facilities. The steps in the bedroom/bathroom need careful navigation.

Verified reviewWe had come here after a few days in Las Galeras, where the nature is a bit wilder, and loved it. This is a wonderfully located hotel with direct beach access and sun beds. The sea is calm around the hotel; if you want waves, walk to the right towards the middle of playa bonita. Some people surf there. You can also walk towards playa coson, to the left of the hotel. I enjoyed the quiet and calm atmosphere and the fact that no music was played on the beach. Playa Bonita is beautiful and there are 4-5 places where you can eat. The hotel has its own restaurant too. If you’d like to go to Las Terrenas, you can go by taxi or hop on the motorcycle with a local person. However, we stayed for a week and only went to the town once for some supplies. The restaurants by the beach are lovely. Our room was nicely decorated and bright; also very quiet. Staff were very pleasant. We went in early June and the hotel was almost empty - we had the beach to ourselves.
The breakfast is nice, but could include some eggs or fruit. You can get them for an additional charge.

Verified reviewWonderful Property
Our stay was ruined by being charged double ( both by Booking and the hotel ). Neither Booking nor the hotel took responsibility to correct….so I have had to dispute ( illegal charges ) with credit card Co.
Hello sir, I have been notified of your complaint regarding the fact that we have charged you twice for your stay at the hotel. Before your arrival, we sent you a message through the booking platform letting you know that we have placed a 50% hold on your reservation using the card you entered when you made your reservation through booking. At checkout, my colleague gave you a copy of the cancellation of that hold. Booking.com does not charge your card when you make the reservation; payment is made at the hotel, and I can assure you that we have not charged you twice for your reservation. Booking.com has not contacted us to inform us of your complaint. I apologize for this inconvenience, as it is something that has not happened to us before. Thank you. Naomie Reception Manager

Verified reviewWe stayed one week at hotel Atlantis with our toddler. Although the hotel doesn't have direct beach access it's only a short walk to one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The hotel is really nice, great food and perfect location. Keep in mind that the rooms are maybe little outdated but we really loved it and would stay here again.

Verified reviewThe surf was rough on this particular beach If you walked a bit to a cove you could get calmer waters.
Las Terreanas in The Dominican Republic is a very loud town. You hear a lot of Boom boxes, over abundance of motor cycles. loud cars. The island has very little snorkeling regardless of what the brochures say and this is due to the over building with so much cement. Rain water causes a lot of runoff which kills the Coral Reef. Not easy to access parts of the island from the Samana Peninsula and there is not much to do. Limited wildlife.

Verified reviewQuiet location at the western end of Playa Bonita. Beautiful, well-maintained property in whitewashed Caribbean style with immaculate grounds. We had the Granada suite with massive double bed on the second floor of the main building, with stunning direct sea views and dual aspect windows (you can watch the sea from your bath!). No beach to speak of, but plenty of sun loungers on the lawns beneath palm trees for sunbathing. It does get very windy, but if you follow the coastal path westwards for 10 minutes round Punta Bonita you arrive at the broad sweep of Playa Coson, with a wide golden sand beach stretching for several kilometres, backed by luxury villas and a couple of posh resorts but little else (take your own towels, food and drink etc). Staff at Atlantis were all amazing, friendly, helpful and smiling - especially Naomi on the front desk. Restaurant serves great food in large portions - however the inclusive breakfast is a little underwhelming for the cost of the rooms; it’s basically continental, i.e. brioche, toast, juice, jam, tea/coffee. Any extras such as eggs are charegeable. But that fact did not detract too much from our wonderful stay in paradise. We will be back one day. Thank you
Nothing, apart from the breakfast options
