United StatesFor breakfast - yogurt selection could have been better, only 1 flavor available most days, the cooked food was not great, bacon fried within an inch of its life, sausages wrinkly and unappetizing. Dinner was not good at all, the food at Gaspar was very underwhelming, either tasteless or over salted, the staff, though lovely, were quite slow, we witnessed many tables waiting far too long for service which seemed to be due to a lack of staff. Being that after a long day at the beach you don't always want to walk back to the beach for dinner this restaurant needs to be better, many nights there was no one there and I'm sure it was due to the level of food and service. Chiringuito was the same, lack lustre food, pasta swimming in sauce, over salty, understaffed. Embarcadero - beautiful setting, great attentive staff, food was much better, especially the sushi which we only tried on the last day sadly, next time!
The breakfast was good if you went down early, lots of fresh fruit, donuts and pastries, variety of breads and cheeses. The hotel is close to the beach, lovely walk in the morning, never crowded or loud, very peaceful and relaxing.

United StatesThe hotel is lovely. We had a spacious junior suite. We were two female travelers. They made up the sofa bed for us. The king bed was very comfortable. They had top of the line toiletries, L'Occitane. All staff were helpful and friendly. We ate on the beach two days. Staff was accommodating.

United StatesThis is my 4th time staying at Casa Hemingway. Unfortunately this 4th time did not meet my expectations based on my previous stays. They did not mop our 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite floors. They did not replace my towels, however when requested they did bring them to the room. The 2 bedroom suite’s microwave was not working. The cleaning staff did not clean the coffee maker on our first day. The one bedroom suite’s bedroom television was not working. The property had more mosquitoes than at any other previous stay. While there I only got to take one warm shower. The shower temperature control in the fist bathroom did not get warm. In the second bathroom the temperature of the shower switched between cold and hot while showering and in the one bedroom suite’s bathroom one had to jiggle and play with the handle in order to get hot water. One had to know the trick. I usually do not write bad reviews but because I love staying at this property I hope they take my constructive criticism and fix the issues. It’s my favorite place to stay when I have to travel to Santo Domingo. I will definitely try Casa Hemingway one more time and hope that the issues on this current visit were just an unfortunate exception. Oh also, when the electricity blackout happened, their power plant was not working. This is the first time I experience this anywhere in a DR hotel/resort.
The property is beautiful and relaxing. The staff is welcoming and responsive to our needs and requests.

United StatesI feel the rooms/suite could have been a bit cleaner. I also did not enjoy the food. The only food we recommend is the breakfast (which is included with your stay) and the restaurant, La Terraza (located at Playa Hemingway tower). For the most part the food at the other restaurants were undercooked and just didn’t taste good.
I really like how nice the staff were and how beautiful the property is. You feel very safe. It’s a great place for families to enjoy a stay in the Dominican Republic.
