Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Dominican RepublicThe owner's wife is frequently around and always seems to be in a bad mood or complaining about something. She brings down the vibe a little bit.
Tremendous Wifi, staff were super friendly, and the owner Luca will do everything possible to make sure you have an amazing stay!

PolandThe rooms have an open roof with a common roof covering all of them. So basically you can hear everything from the other rooms. Still, it was quite quiet, so actually not a problem for me. There was hot water in the shower but it needed the owner to fix something to make the heater working. It broke again after a few minutes.
Very nice place, with a very friendly staff. Good location, very close to the center and the beach, but in a quiter area, not by the main road.

GermanyCleanliness could be a bit better, especially the (shared) bathrooms. A bit far from the beach if looking for this.
Basic but definitely worth the stay. Super friendly and helpful staff. Big room, mosquito net, fan. Good restaurants nearby. Parking in the street possible for free.

GermanyDespite being on a side street, it was quite noisy sometimes, because there don’t seem to be „quiet times“, and it’s very open space (this is lovely in general). The DR is generally louder than elsewhere, very noisy motorbikes and music any time (I love music, but not that loud that you can’t talk or sleep anymore), dogs barking, cocks crowing early in the morning. But bring good earplugs and you‘ll have a sweet sleep. 😴
The owner of the hostel, as well the others I met there, was really friendly and makes you feel welcome. I had a „room“/compartment of my own that gave me more privacy than a dorm. I liked it a lot to have my plug, lamp, wardrobe and mirror. It’s easy to meet other travellers there. You can prepare your meal if you don’t want to try one of the cute restaurants of Las Galeras or the delicious empanadas sold on the Main Street. Bring you own coffee, there’s Italian coffee makers for a good start in the morning. There’s small shops close to the hostel, and you can use the fridge, very useful. Las Galeras has several great beaches, so it’s worth staying a while to relax. I miss it already! Grazie per tutto!

CanadaI was in the apartment unit. It's really quiet large and was great to have room. The location is fantastic. It's a short walk to the beach and a super short walk to the main street. But best of all you don't get the typical Latino street noise. Why they need to blast music full volume is beyond me but this place thankfully is immune to what appears to be a pandemic in Latin America.

Dominican RepublicI like it everything
My first stay at a hostel was delightful. The warm welcome and the opportunity to connect with people from diverse backgrounds made it a memorable experience. The staff and Lucas were attentive right from the start ☺️. The price I paid for the night was very reasonable. I had a cozy private room with a comfortable bed. Although the bathroom was small, it was always clean, which I appreciate. The central location of the hostel, just a short walk from the beach, was perfect for me. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning to explore Las Galeras.

GermanyI took a private room which was was under one big roof with the other rooms and dorms, but didn't have its own ceiling. So you could here a bit of what other people were doing. But in general people were very considerate, not noisy at all, so I slept well. In comparison I found it a bit more expensive than other hostels, but it is still good value.
Luca is a great host, and the vounteers were also friendly and helpful. I loved the building (inside and outside area), beautiful and cosy. The location is perfect, a short walk from the beach. It is only one minute from the main street, where you can take a guagua to Samaná or where it drops you off. A minimarket and a fruit shop are also right on the corner of the main street. You find good restaurants nearby.
