Room itself could use a little loving. Some sliding windows did not lock. Some window mosquito screen was torn and needs to be replaced. Air conditioner was blowing cold air but somehow the room did not cool well. Perhaps the AC unit is too small for the room size. Quality of the sheets could be improved. Mattresses should have liners. This seems like a studio apartment that is managed by the property, but maybe as far as sheets, bedspreads and the like is done by the individual owners? The water coming out of the faucets was very salty. Water heater worked. Unit is right next to a restaurant that has loud music playing until midnight or so.

Good people. Leslie at the reception desk was knowledgeable and had a great attitude. TV worked well and had a good selection of movie channels. The refrigerator was initially unplugged but started right up and worked well.

I'm a fairly tall person (5' 10") and the bed was somehow kind of short. My feet were always hitting the footboard or hanging off the edge. It was comfortable otherwise, so I guess it wouldn't matter if you're short. Since it was a new room, it seems like they're still finishing it. Having a hang bar for clothes and towels would have been really helpful. The only thing that would really make me think twice about coming back was one of the servers, we only saw her at breakfast but she was surly at best. Our last day, my husband is pretty certain he heard her call him a rude name to another server. As service people ourselves, he panicked that maybe we'd been tipping poorly so he kind of scrambled for a way to tip better which caused its own situation. Again, we were helped by friendly and patient staff, only to be sneered at when he finally put the cash into the tip jar. She was rude from the start which was a sharp contrast to how nice everyone else was.

The hotel was nice, very picturesque. We opted for breakfast and dinner included and it was really convenient to have it built in, though they do offer a more limited menu for the included meals. Almost al of the servers and staff we encountered were really friendly and patient with our slow or limited spanish. It was easy to communicate with the property before hand. I asked about payment because booking says they accept cash or cards which is not true- you have to pay cash in person. The room was new so it was clean, had several useful kitchen items, a good size mini fridge and they put out chairs on our porch-y area. There are good spots to sit outside and the pool is surrounded by lots of beautiful plants so there always some foliage in it, but they clean it everyday. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs because the walls are a little thin.

This place is great, clean, everything works and is good value for money. It's a very relaxed and friendly place and just opposite the beach. Close to mini markets and restaurants. It was a lovely stay with lovely staff. The restaurant food is well done and a fair price. The room had a very good cooker and big fridge. The sheets lovely and the beds are good quality. The pool is small but great. I am looking forward to going back. Some of rooms seem a little dated but all is clean and of good quality.

The room needs a wardrobe or rod to hang clothes. Could not get clothes to dry. Need some way to heat water for tea/coffee (microwave or coffee pot). The refrigerator was very noisy and I had to turn it off at night. But, overall, what I expected and the place was always very clean.

All the staff were very helpful. The restaurant provided good food. I would describe the facility as an "Oasis" amid high condos and constant construction. The closeness to the beach access is a big plus. Very quiet at night for a restful sleep. I felt very safe while there and very much enjoyed lounging around the pool and its waterfall. All the nearby restaurants and food stores are exceedingly overpriced. Be forewarned. My room had a weak internet connection.

I very much enjoyed my room and kitchen. The landscaping is most pleasant. This was my third time visiting Juan Dolio for purposes of competing in an annual international chess tournament and this was by far my favorite place to stay. I liked feeding the loitering cats.
