How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewPositive: Large room and comfortable bed, the gym - the best in the hotel! The food and the team in the Capriccio restaurant - not the drinks. Rest areas to suit all tastes.
Negative: everything else. In the room, the decor is impersonal, the furniture of average quality, the bedside rugs are ridiculous. I don't know if the staff in some hotel areas are underpaid, or if they're paid at all. On the first contact, they're all polite, but if we don't tip, we only see their backs... the pressure to tip is constant and the difference between tipping and not tipping is clearly visible. For the price of a night in this place, the quality of the buffets is low, and the quality of the drinks in the hotel is ridiculous, unacceptable. Those in charge of the hotel must think that anyone who pays 600$ or more for a night in their hotel, drinks the cheap junk they offer! The welcome sparkling wine is unpalatable; a supposed greeting is almost an offense. There is a wine list but, of course, absurdly expensive. If you need an invoice, make sure you get it before leaving the hotel, or you may face a nightmare trying to obtain one. I hardly understand how this place can use the "The Luxury Collection" seal...

Verified reviewThe food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Sits on a beautiful property with beautiful architecture. Lots to do on the property we enjoyed the bike tour and spa.
Only downside I would have to say is the beach it is very small, could not sea any wild life, and lots of seaweed/murky water towards the shore. There’s a nicer beach 5 minute walk distance away and we did the la saona island excursion so it was okay.

Verified reviewFantastic stay. Started with a minor error by the reception at check which led to my credit card being blocked due to suspected fraud (which I sorted with my bank the next day but not ideal after a 9 hour flight) and which was apologised for with a bottle of Prosecco and chocolate covered strawberries in our room the next day. We loved a lot of it, great food in the steakhouse, Asian, blue marlin at lunch and pizza in sanctuary town to die for. Our room an ocean view premium luxury suite was wonderful and hot tub great. There is some aging in the spa, it could benefit from being updated but our spa treatments were great themselves. Breakfast and lunch at casa Bella brilliant, room service great. The New Year’s Eve buffet was unfortunately a let down but it was the only choice that night, the blue marlin dinner menu just isn’t good enough and they should consider doing the lunch at dinner or just doing lunch until there are better dinner options. The Italian is well put together, but the pasta needs some work and as an Italian, it’s something you need to get right. Beach and pool are wonderful. Small tips and friendships with the staff are going to get you everything at this type of resort so if you’re fine with that, then you’re all good. Special shout out to Felix at the beach getting us where we wanted to sit everyday, Belen at breakfast getting us our table and full array of drinks for us, Cristian at the pool bar, Maria in the spa and at lunch, Omar with the drinks during the day - all fantastic servers.

We come on vacation to relax and Not hear the employees shouting all the time and talking about their personal problems and even cursing! I would listen for guests to be talking but all I would hear was the employees that don’t know how to talk low specially when next to guests who are relaxing and enjoying the sun. Verified reviewThe grounds are lush and Spanish colonial its a masterpiece. The views from the castle pool are spectacular. 5 stars across the board for all the food and drinks. Rooms were cozy we did the castle which comes with a butler. However it's not necessary all the rooms and just as good. This is a peaceful resort so don't expect a ton of entertainment or music. Bring lots of 1s to tip everywhere you go around the resort. Expect to tip, and they deserve it. Speak spanish when saying your greetings they love it !!

Staff at various location was absent terrible. When I went to management they could care less. Steak house has specific rules. I had open shoes on which was wrong. I had not seen that rule.wmy issue was people w going in with beach attire. I asked to speak to the manager and he refused to come out. And when I looked in the restaurant, people were wearing shorts, sandals and other various “non-dress, like clothing“.

The beds in the room could have been firmer as well as some of the staff seemed to kind of expect a tip.

Verified reviewwe came here for our honeymoon and were very disappointed!!! The property itself is lovely and beautiful. However we struggled multiple times with the service - once with our butler service who, upon check in, told us they would help us make a reservation for the next day at one of the restaurants he recommended. When I checked in with him next day on reservation; no reservation had been made and he told us the restaurants he recommended were closed. We ended up ordering room service which finally came 90 min after ordering a soup and sandwich. But the real incompetence and inability to help came on the second night when we had a giant crab living in the soffit above our bed. We could see him crawling out and back in and when we called the front desk to send someone, no one came. We waited for over 30 min and finally went to the front desk to change rooms as we couldn’t sleep with the noise of the crab crawling and burying over our heads. For TWO Hours they had us back and forth with no solution from 10:30 till almost 12:30am, until finally I broke down yelling and they gave us another room- which they should’ve done the minute they realized the situation couldn’t be repaired.
