Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Dominican RepublicThe beach area directly accessible from the hotel isn't clean. Better to walk to the public beach via the entrance road - it's more comfortable and still an ok walking-distance.
The hotel premises, including garden, rooms and pool area are very nice. Restaurant had a decent amount of options throughout the day. We really liked its small hotel size and welcoming staff. They were good at helping sort any issues.

United States1 big thing, 2 small things: Big: the Mariposa room on the 2nd floor, near the kitchen has a major design flaw- the large bathroom window (closed with shutters) is directly in front of the toilet- you can hear the kitchen staff and they can hear you! I was surprised by this, but didn't complain for my 1 night stay- however, this was unpleasant and also woke me up, as you can hear the kitchen staff preparing breakfast for their morning start time. Small: - The hot water in the shower takes times to warm up, especially in the evening- be patient, it's not broken - the kitchen may not have some of their advertised menu options, have a 2nd choice
The property is off the beaten path, which allows you to have a private and serene experience. Sam, the manager, is an absolute delight! He makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive, but without impeding on your relaxation. The pool and hot tub temperatures were perfect and the walking path down to the beach made this stay accessible for me (traveling with knee injuries). There is 24 hour security, so you cannot access the road or gate to the hotel unless security confirms that you're supposed to be here. I stayed here on 2 different nights (different reservations) and would absolutely choose the small, quiet experience over the large resort a few mins away (I had a wedding at the big resort in between stays). I preferred the 1st floor corner room (Pinioneres) to my upstairs room near the kitchen (Mariposa), as the bed was more comfortable and I experienced less noise. The price difference was $10 USD for a king vs. double queen.

Wonderful location. Beautiful beach called Macao. It's probably one of the very few ones without the sargassum at this time of the year. You just need to walk 4 minutes to have a clean beach. Service and manager are excellent, and the views from the dining room are breathtaking. You have the real feeling of staying in a nice Hacienda. This is a boutique hotel with only 8 or 9 rooms. For one night, we were the only guests. This was a very nice feeling. The food was delicious, and breakfast was well served with many items.

United KingdomAll great.
This is out of the way and was very quiet when we were there. It’s absolutely idyllic with easy access to the beach and a walk to rough beach side bars. The pool is a good size. The room was also a nice size with very effective air con. The bed was comfy. A great find. The staff were also very friendly The breakfast was ample and the evening meal was surprisingly good. The spaghetti carbonara may not have been anything an Italian would recognise but it was absolutely delicious. Just try it.

United StatesThey did not keep their stretch of the beach clean, so therefore it had lots of seaweed and plastic bottles washing up. Breakfast was very monotonous with the same thing for seven days straight. Meal selection, including dessert are limited. Only one dessert offering per several days. No local food offerings except for one snack item – although the chef was very amenable to cooking what we asked for based on prior Dominican Republic visits and knowledge of food options. Complementary coffee with breakfast was very mediocre. Not a very high quality standard. They do not inform you that coffee pods in the room after the first day are charged at the equivalent of 200 pesos per pod.
Scenery from the food terrace overlooking the ocean and the hotel garden. Gardens were immaculately kept. Wonderful pool kept sparkly clean. Staff accommodated food request.

RomaniaIt is not perfect, but the small things do not affect the overall satisfaction. The only thing that I would mention is: the ocean waves brings back all the plastics and garbage we throw in it so you will see a lot of this in some areas on the beach.
Everything was great. Both managers very friendly and helpful. Location is amazing. Palms, overgrown jungle like area, beach area quite empty most of the time, old style building, good food. You will hear the ocean and birds singing day and night.

Location and the hotel is small and personal. Staff was friendly and personal. Would have liked to see a serving staff that was a little knowledgeable with English. However everything worked out.

United StatesBecause the hotel is on a secluded section of the beach, it was hard to find. The last section is on a road that had a no trespassing barrier. We eventually went around it and a few hundred yards down the road we found the hotel. It was the only part of our experience that wasn't nearly perfect.
The hotel is a small boutique hotel on a secluded part of a gorgeous beach. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with different palms and other tropical plants. The rooms were in bungelows and were spacious with delightful appointments. The bed was a king-sized, four poster, canopy bed. There was a clean pool and a jetted plunge pool, both at ambient tempurature. The beach had coral sand and was secluded, we had the whole beach to ourselves. We had grilled salmon and chicken for dinner and both were prepared and seasoned to perfection. The included breakfast was expansive and very good with fresh fruits, cheeses, bread and spreads, eggs to order and choice of juices, hot cocoa, and coffee. The service was very attentive and friendly, eager to please. It was very romantic and we highly recommend the hotel.

United StatesBeing the sole guests at the resort during our stay, my dad and I had the unique chance to exclusively interact with Sam and his exceptional staff. Despite the limited number of guests, we were delighted to get to know Sam and his team, enjoying every conversation and interaction. The personalized attention and warmth extended by the staff made our experience truly delightful, turning what could have been a quiet stay into a memorable and engaging time at the resort.
Sam, the manager and one of the executive chefs, went above and beyond to ensure that my dad and I felt truly at home during our stay in Punta Cana/DR. Sam took the initiative to arrange memorable excursions for us multiple times throughout the trip (coordinating pick-up times and locations, packing breakfasts/snacks before leaving) and upon learning of my passion for cooking, Sam generously offered to provide me with a personal cooking lesson, showcasing a level of hospitality that exceeded all expectations. Throughout our stay, Sam remained effortlessly accessible through WhatsApp, ensuring that our needs were met promptly and seamlessly. His unwavering dedication to client satisfaction and willingness to go the extra mile set this resort apart from others. Sam's personalized attention and genuine commitment made our experience exceptional, and we are grateful for the outstanding service he provided.

CanadaI would like to mention that we have stayed in various types of accommodation throughout our travels and we are generally very grateful and content people. However, this time, right from the beginning, we had been encountering many issues which really impacted our overall feeling from the stay. After three nights we were glad to be moving to another hotel. We arrived during a regular check in time just to be informed that our room was not ready due to an unexpected AC repair. That can happen of course. We were asked to wait. We were so excited to be there that at that point we didn’t care. After later consideration I would maybe expect an courtesy drink to be offered if this is the so called luxury hotel, but no need to be a nitpicker. We also got a form to sign which was offered only in Spanish and was supposed to “clarify” the cancellation policy. So make sure you know what you are signing for. After an hour we were allowed to our room. The room was spacious and really cozy. No sarcasm here. But after few moments we realized several maintenance issues. The fridge was broken, the main ceiling light didn’t work and when we wanted to open the (beautiful) window shutters to let in at least some daylight, couple of them were stuck or broken and impossible to adjust. The towel rack in the bathroom was barely hanging on the wall, the shower glass partition was not sealed well hence water was leaking. The bed was creaking so if one of us moved it woke up the other one. We had to ask more times for outdoor chair cushions because the manager forgot. Jacuzzi was still not working in December, judging from the other reviews might be an ongoing repair since February. :D The breakfast on the terrace with a paradise like view towards the ocean was beautifully served.
The location and the property itself is breathtaking. There is no doubt. We loved the intimacy, the landscaping and overall design. The views to the ocean, the surrounding greenery with various paths are just stunning and truly picturesque, it gives kind of a jungle feeling and it is incomparable to an overcrowded resort stay. BUT behind all this beauty there were couple of issues.
