The hotel premises, including garden, rooms and pool area are very nice. Restaurant had a decent amount of options throughout the day. We really liked its small hotel size and welcoming staff. They were good at helping sort any issues.

The beach area directly accessible from the hotel isn't clean. Better to walk to the public beach via the entrance road - it's more comfortable and still an ok walking-distance.

The property is off the beaten path, which allows you to have a private and serene experience. Sam, the manager, is an absolute delight! He makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive, but without impeding on your relaxation. The pool and hot tub temperatures were perfect and the walking path down to the beach made this stay accessible for me (traveling with knee injuries). There is 24 hour security, so you cannot access the road or gate to the hotel unless security confirms that you're supposed to be here. I stayed here on 2 different nights (different reservations) and would absolutely choose the small, quiet experience over the large resort a few mins away (I had a wedding at the big resort in between stays). I preferred the 1st floor corner room (Pinioneres) to my upstairs room near the kitchen (Mariposa), as the bed was more comfortable and I experienced less noise. The price difference was $10 USD for a king vs. double queen.

1 big thing, 2 small things: Big: the Mariposa room on the 2nd floor, near the kitchen has a major design flaw- the large bathroom window (closed with shutters) is directly in front of the toilet- you can hear the kitchen staff and they can hear you! I was surprised by this, but didn't complain for my 1 night stay- however, this was unpleasant and also woke me up, as you can hear the kitchen staff preparing breakfast for their morning start time. Small: - The hot water in the shower takes times to warm up, especially in the evening- be patient, it's not broken - the kitchen may not have some of their advertised menu options, have a 2nd choice

Wonderful location. Beautiful beach called Macao. It's probably one of the very few ones without the sargassum at this time of the year. You just need to walk 4 minutes to have a clean beach. Service and manager are excellent, and the views from the dining room are breathtaking. You have the real feeling of staying in a nice Hacienda. This is a boutique hotel with only 8 or 9 rooms. For one night, we were the only guests. This was a very nice feeling. The food was delicious, and breakfast was well served with many items.

    Nothing.

This is out of the way and was very quiet when we were there. It’s absolutely idyllic with easy access to the beach and a walk to rough beach side bars. The pool is a good size. The room was also a nice size with very effective air con. The bed was comfy. A great find. The staff were also very friendly The breakfast was ample and the evening meal was surprisingly good. The spaghetti carbonara may not have been anything an Italian would recognise but it was absolutely delicious. Just try it.

    All great.

Scenery from the food terrace overlooking the ocean and the hotel garden. Gardens were immaculately kept. Wonderful pool kept sparkly clean. Staff accommodated food request.

They did not keep their stretch of the beach clean, so therefore it had lots of seaweed and plastic bottles washing up. Breakfast was very monotonous with the same thing for seven days straight. Meal selection, including dessert are limited. Only one dessert offering per several days. No local food offerings except for one snack item – although the chef was very amenable to cooking what we asked for based on prior Dominican Republic visits and knowledge of food options. Complementary coffee with breakfast was very mediocre. Not a very high quality standard. They do not inform you that coffee pods in the room after the first day are charged at the equivalent of 200 pesos per pod.

Great small boutique hotel. Very different than other massive resorts in the area. Much more intimate and exclusive, high quality everything. Quiet and relaxed.

Breakfast was excellent as was the dinners. Excellent chef on duty! Resort was peaceful and relaxing, unlike neighboring huge 'all inclusive' resorts. Management was very accommodating to our requests.

Beachfront was limited but this was not a big issue for us

The location, the pool, food quality and the staff were great! Totally recommended :)

Nothing wrong with the stay but keep in mind Uber drivers are difficult to get as it is a outside the main tourist area and want to charge you more.

A lovely boutique hotel away from the other mass tourist hotels. Lovely common area by the pool with sunbeds and sofas. Nice restaurants with many options. There are even chickens on the property.

The beach area was not taken care of (some plastic trash was left there).

Everything was great. Both managers very friendly and helpful. Location is amazing. Palms, overgrown jungle like area, beach area quite empty most of the time, old style building, good food. You will hear the ocean and birds singing day and night.

It is not perfect, but the small things do not affect the overall satisfaction. The only thing that I would mention is: the ocean waves brings back all the plastics and garbage we throw in it so you will see a lot of this in some areas on the beach.

Location and the hotel is small and personal. Staff was friendly and personal. Would have liked to see a serving staff that was a little knowledgeable with English. However everything worked out.

Kitchen did not have some items that the displayed on the menu, just annoying. The reservation system needs improvement. Difficult to reach them via phone.

A fantastic boutique hotel resort; great rooms, great service and a great location.

It’s a great spot to just relax and not be busy with anything in particular. Ocean is great, beach is stunning, rooms are spacious and comfortable; it’s not crowded and it’s just perfect for a couple to get away.
