The quality of food offered for dinner. We have to go off property for dinner when we didn’t get reservations at one of the restaurants. Having to wait at the one and only bar for drinks was frustrating.

The location was lovely. The grounds were clean and spacious. The proximity to the beach was fab. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were of a good size. Contra to reviews that I had read prior to going that gave the food bad reviews, we were very pleasantly surprised that the food was very nice in general. Yes when u have a buffet set up there will be some food standing and if at a hotel for over a week can become very “ samey” , and somethings were. Little strange, however we found that the food was very good with a large selection, I am a fussy eater and could always find plenty to eat. Also the restaurants u can book in advance were very good and enjoyed them. Would have no problem with staying here again. X

Old property that needs updating/fixing basic things. Quality of food was very basic; desserts had a weird taste, therefore could not eat them (unlike the Royalton in Punta Cana that had real desserts). Even though it was all-inclusive, we did not have access to lemonade. Had to wait in the long line at the bar. The good coffee was also at the bar. The shows were ok, but were held inside the warm theatre vs outdoors.

Initially no water in the shower - took two days to resolve. Took four hours, two phone calls and two visits to the front desk to gain access to the safe. Then the next day the batteries were flat and again had to wait around an hour to have them replaced. After one clean (day three) the balcony door was left open by the cleaner. The last four days the cleaner did not clean the balcony (bird poo was there in the center). Last three days replacement towels were not given, meaning that I was left with one damp towel for showering. "Do not disturb" sign was removed. Desk was not cleaned for the last several days. Food in the main hall was basic and low quality. Some of the "local" dishes were good (I loved the chicken and pork, tasty sauces and stuffed eggplant), however much of the meat was processed meat, most vegetables were simply boiled. More local dishes would be great.

Location is great given we came for kiteboarding and wing foiling. Privacy of my garden view room and balcony. Mexican, Italian and Fusion restaurants were great. Sadly the discoteck is not used that much as it is a great setup and if more guests would go then I would have spent more time in there.

Our bathroom. It was very obvious that the staff had just fixed the ceiling from all the rain. Our bathroom smelt of paint. Our AC worked really well when we first arrived and then it wasn’t working. We did not complain about this at the time and I am sure it would have been dealt with immediately. For how many guests the hotel holds, there such be a self serve beer bar other than the one one the dining room that was not working, to decrease the bar line.

Location was perfect, it in walking distance of incredible restaurants, stores, bars.

They kept telling us about this VIP breakfast or lunch that they wanted us to attend. When we attended the breakfast, it was the same breakfast I couldve gotten from the kitchen. Was told I would be receiving a gift card for $30 and a gift. Received a beach bag as a gift but when I mentioned the gift card, they said they knew nothing about it. On the beach we were constantly being bombarded by people selling jewelry. It started to feel like we were being harrassed.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. The entertainment was great and appropriate for all ages. The room was clean and spacious.

The sales pitches and the staff who are "assigned" to you to get you to buy. They pretend to like you, until you attend the presentation and decline "membership", then they act as if you don't exist. Also, one of the sales managers was pretty much a butthole and that's being generous and polite. Also, the water pressure and temperature are sketchy at best. Never really had "hot" water during my stay.

Decent place, as expected for what I paid. Rooms are okay, the staff I had contact with were all friendly, primarily the main bar area staff. The staff at the Beach Side Restaurant (primarily Jose) were truly outstanding and accommodating on every level. If it wasn't for Jose and the Beach Side crew, this trip would've been a total waste. Over the last 30 plus years I've visited a few Viva destinations and this one is probably my least favorite.
