How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe members of the staff were extremely nice and kind. Breakfast was great.
The room was noisy. You could hear everything from the corridors and the street. It was quiet most of the time, though, but the moment someone arrived or left the rooms, you could hear it. The street wasn't that busy either, so it was noisy just at some moments, not continuously.

Verified reviewThere is no better place to stay in Quito! The hotel is perfectly located and feels extremely safe. The building itself has incredible architecture and the views left me breathless. The staff is wonderful, kind and very helpful, making sure you are satisfied every step of the way. The breakfast is fresh and generous. You can walk anywhere in the city. I will go back and recommend it to everyone that I know!

Verified reviewIt’s the second time we have stayed here. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The location is excellent with a beautiful view of the city. Just a Few blocks down from the incredible Basilica and 10 minutes walk from the plaza grande. Andres the owner was kind enough to help us with our bags down to plaza San Francisco. Very good value for money.

Verified reviewThe property was perfect- in an excellent position close to everything. The rooms were really comfortable & the property had amazing views over the city particularly at night. The staff were amazingly helpful both before & during our stay. Unfortunately we were only on a short stop over but would loved to have stayed longer at this property.

Verified reviewGreat little hotel in a location above the heritage centre. Helpful, friendly staff. Good advice on restaurants and places to visit. Comfortable room and a nice little breakfast.
Being in an elevated position, it is a bit of a workout to walk back to the hotel from the centre of the old town. However, there are always taxis and Ubers 😊

Verified reviewThe hospitality is excellent, so welcoming, warm, friendly staff. Everyone, from the owner to the recommended taxi driver want to make your stay is comfortable, enjoyable, pleasant,
It's more like a bed and breakfast type of stay. Although it didn't bother me, if you are a light sleeper don't get a room with a balcony on the street side. Walls are very thin ,so you can hear people in the hallways and the activity adjacent to your room.

Verified reviewThe Casa Gardenia is located in the old town very close to the main square. There are a lot of restaurants and cafes nearby. The room was comfortable and spacious. The shower worked well with plenty of hot water. The communal sitting areas had wonderful views of the city. Breakfast was freshly cooked. Nothing was too much trouble for Andre the owner and his team.

Verified reviewI like everything about this place, especially the staff! We arrived early and we were allowed to check in early. We asked if we could have the breakfast on the arriving date since we were leaving early on the next day. They said yes and quickly prepared it for us. However, they still prepared breakfast boxes for us on the morning we left. We appreciate their flexiblility and attention so much! The room was great with a window. It had an extra blanket. Everything was clean. While it didn't have a hair dryer, we could ask for it at the counter. So we got everything we needed for a great stay!

Verified reviewIncredible service from the front desk. Hugely appreciated the map to help us self navigate the historic center. Helped us with transport, even urgently when we were short on time due to some closed streets for International Women's Day. Great breakfast. And the design and views were impeccable.

Verified reviewStaff made the visit great and airport transport arrangements so easy! Great location at the top of a steep hill overlooking the old city, but easy and cheap to return via Uber if desired. Be aware that not all rooms have windows that open to the outside due to the historic architecture, but there are beautiful common spaces that do.

Verified reviewA really lovely small hotel in the old town within easy walking distance of the main squares The room was very spacious and comfortable with a good shower and comfortable bed and pillows. It is a bright modern hotel with lots of glass set in an old building and as it is situated half way up a hill you get spectacular views across the city and of the Basilica. Andres was really friendly and helpful advising us where to go and providing maps. The hotel was very accommodating and we were allowed to late check out . Breakfasts were good . Overall a great boutique hotel in a very good location
