How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewpeaceful, great hosts, very very kind! and the value for money is 10/10, you have a good breakfast. you have shops to buy sth to cook in the kitchen or you may buy some pasta or pizza inside the hostel. you also have 6hs tour with a great guide to the jungle

Verified reviewIf you want a place in the jungle then this place has a great location. If you want the benefits of being in the town it will score low in terms of location. Staff are great, good food available, beers too. The dorm is the biggest I have been in on this trip, loads of space to spread your stuff out. Beds good too.
Hostel was fine, just a bit of a pain to get to but not too difficult. If you are using Apple maps be aware that it has the hostel in the wrong place - when you get off the bus it is c50 yards back the way you gave just come.

Verified reviewIf you’re looking for something off the beaten path and to chill this is it. WiFi was significantly better than mine in the US, was shocking how awesome it was haha. Sleeping arrangements seemed bug proof. Breakfast was simple, but good. Owner was nice. Bike rental was affordable. A few things to do for a full day in the area; the scenic sunset spot was incredible worthy the trip out here. The resturant across the street easily had the best Ecuadorian food I’ve had. Went there 3x in 2 days.
A lot of the hostel’s pictures are from the surrounding area. I booked this for the view with the hammock, however it’s about a 45 minute walk from the hostel get there. Not many travelers stay here. More so Ecuadorian families needing a place to stay for the evening. The families were pretty loud. I recommend spending 1 night here.

Verified reviewThe hostel is in really beautiful place on the "last road" before the forest. The dormitorio is really nice and all the structure give you really a fantastic peaceful mood. The two host was ok, they give you suggestions, but It seems like things aren't being handled, things happen but aren't part of an organized management.
If it is properly managed it would be a 9... if they tried to propose properly organised tours it would be a 10

Verified reviewMy stay at Guest House Great Hostels Amazon was, without a doubt, the absolute highlight of my entire Amazonas trip in Ecuador. To begin with, getting there might require a bit of effort, but it's entirely worth it. You can catch the Centinela bus from the Mariscal market (just search "Cooperativa de Transportes Centinela del Oriente") which runs three times a day to Parroquia Tarqui (at 6 am, 12 pm, and 4 pm). Once you arrive, you'll be immersed in a genuine local Amazonian experience. The hostel is truly a hidden gem. They not only provide valuable guidance on visiting local communities, viewpoints, and waterfalls but also offer an authentic taste of Amazonian life. The surrounding area boasts a few local restaurants, and the hostel itself serves a complimentary breakfast and has its own restaurant. Additionally, there's a small kitchen available for guests. However, the absolute highlight of my stay was the tour with Enri. It was a genuine local experience and a steal at just $25 for the entire day. This price is significantly lower than what you'd pay for the more touristy tours offered in town or in Tena and Baños.
While my stay at Guest House Great Hostels Amazon was an incredible experience overall, there were a few minor drawbacks. First, the cold showers were less than ideal, especially after a long day of exploring. Secondly, the kitchen facilities, while available, could benefit from some improvement to make cooking more convenient. Lastly, the hostel's remote location, though providing an authentic experience, might pose a challenge for travelers seeking more immediate accessibility. However, these minor inconveniences were overshadowed by the exceptional positives of the stay and the unique Amazonian adventure it offered.

Verified reviewAmazing place very close to the waterfall. You feel kind of in the jungle. There are some things around to do like the cocoa farm, waterfall and viewpoint (3km walk or bike). Some restaurants nearby as well.
The food at the hotel restaurant is overpriced. A restaurant nearby offered great typical food for a good price so that was fine. Breakfast could have been better.
